Yesterday I concluded my mini series on warm evening light, commonly known as Golden Hour Light. I thought it would be nice to follow that up with an image that shows a transition from Golden Hour light to Blue hour Light.

Not meant to be a succession of time, as this shot was taken a few days after the previous images,

This is actually looking South West, whereas the sun would be in the North West, but the only warm tones in the sky were here, as the sun's location had completely clouded over.

I really like this one for the calmness I saw in the scene and presence of the last sliver of warmth in the sky, that would soon be taken over by clouds and darkness.

Whether this would be considered golden Hour light or Blue Hour light, does not matter in the least. To me the mix of cool and warm light is what makes the light special.

Her eyes penetrated the text. She went over every letter of every word spelling, sounding out each, caressing every curve, every angle, every line, dots, strokes, going up, going down, imprinting each word, memorizing the feeling, touching every word of that text, so far away from her, so far away, like a distant memory of the voice of a woman sitting at a table next to hers, at the coffee shop, saying out loud things she could hear in passing, codes flying the distance between her mind and her ears, casual, ordinary.

It was as if she had just learned how to read or she's been deaf so long she couldn't remember when last she heard and now for the first time her nerves were tickled with the vibrations, vibrations of something slithery, something forbidden, a promise, perhaps, something promised beyond time, inhumane, farther, much farther, something familiar yet never permitted for her, ...perhaps secrets revealed from a long lost civilization, forgotten before known, unreachable to her, exclusive, as if she'd found herself uninvited in a location, dreamt.

Midway through she realized how her eyes were committing every nuance, not of the words, not of the sounds even, or only..., no..., not only words nor only sounds even, something deeper, every nuance of every curve, the shapes the letters, each, made on the line, in sequence, a code, not the spaces, not in meaning only even, no..., not even, odd, definitely oddly deep, ...deeper, her eyes were committing every shape of every letter, every nuance the lines immersed the sheet with.

It had broken her heart. Her heart had broken as it was meant to.

First of all, apologies for the feeder shot. Well, actually not really because I meant to do this for entirely educational purposes. The reason for this shot is that I wanted to document beyond any doubt that there is interspecies communication. It appears that the Downies have been learning from the Blue Jays and are now as much into peanuts as the Jays are. This is also supported by a tremendous increase in the consumption of peanuts in my yard. Interestingly enough, not only the Downys are into this but the Crow from the previous picture has learned to like peanuts as well. Although today she actually consumed half a can of cat food which I gave her as a reward for hanging out in my bird stand, the one that she previously rejected to my great consternation.

So, just remember that you saw this here first, Downies like peanuts.

This was a place I had meant to go for a long time, and was excited after my first night in New Zealand to head to this lake in the hope for mirror still water for the reflections of this.

The added bonus of the birds sleeping in the trees, the mountains with snow and the clouds in the distance is a bonus.

I think next time i'll use a longer lens so the houses aren't included, but I like the really wide angle lens as it captures the rocks in the foreground and really helps to really show how beautiful and isolated this tree is.

My mum wanted this in blue, so I left it as it is, but I think it suits a black and white photo as well.

A spider web, spiderweb, spider's web, or cobweb (from the archaic word coppe, meaning "spider") is a structure created by a spider out of proteinaceous spider silk extruded from its spinnerets, generally meant to catch its prey.

Spider webs have existed for at least 100 million years, as witnessed in a rare find of Early Cretaceous amber from Sussex, southern England. Many spiders build webs specifically to catch insects to eat. However, not all spiders catch their prey in webs, and some do not build webs at all. "Spider web" is typically used to refer to a web that is apparently still in use (i.e. clean), whereas "cobweb" refers to abandoned (i.e. dusty) webs. However, the word "cobweb" is also used by biologists to describe the tangled three-dimensional web of some spiders of the Theridiidae family. De kruisspin ruimt ook zijn eigen afval op. Achtergebleven delen van insecten die niet eetbaar zijn, of rondvliegend vuil wat in het web achterblijft, wordt op een vernuftige wijze verwijderd. as a child, grass mostly meant yard work to me. Yes, I mowed a LOT of grass. We had a huge yard, and that's no exaggeration. Think about two football fields worth. We had some acreage, and my dad liked extending the yard another row or two regularly. btw, other than extending the yard, my dad didn't do any of the mowing. Yes, it was kind of nice having this huge yard to play just about any kind of sport on, but I never ever really appreciated the beauty of grass until I got to see it mature. I'd bet souls are something like that.

Meant to get out and take new photos this weekend but I've been sick since Thanksgiving with an infected ear. What better time, then, to get out the old shoebox and see what I've always meant to upload?

This was taken back on May 23rd of 2007. It had poured rain all day and then, around 6pm, the rain stopped. As I was driving home from work I saw that Lake Phalen (here in Saint Paul, Minnesota) was smooth as glass. I stopped and took photos until it got too dark. One of my favorite sets is of these guys, putting along in their little boat, hardly making a ripple.

I've tone-mapped this image a little but it's not hdr.

The moment I saw you I knew my life would never be the same again. At the time, I didn't know what that actually meant.

It was only over time that I realized what a gift, what an enrichment you are for my life. That there is a person who means more to me than anything else. It still overwhelms me when I think back to your first hour in the world, which I was allowed to spend with you. Okay, most of the time you were yelling at me, but since then, at least that's how it feels to me, something special connects us.

And now look at you, 18 years later. This little baby whose feet were smaller than my thumb has grown into a beautiful young woman.

A young woman with personality, with rough edges, with a lot of empathy and humor. It fills me with great pride to see you like this today.

I am very happy to have you in my life and that I was able to accompany you on your way to here and that I can continue to do so.

For your further journey, which is called life, I wish you much success and happiness and all the best. At the same time, I wish you the strength and self-confidence to overcome setbacks and defeats.
