Into the Light - Day 34 - Year 2022

The Beurre Bosc or Bosc is a cultivar of the European pear (Pyrus communis), originally from France or Belgium. Also known as the Kaiser, it is grown in Europe, Australia, British Columbia and Ontario, Canada, and the northwestern U.S. states of California, Washington, and Oregon.
The Beurre Bosc was cultivated first in Belgium or France. The name Bosc is given after a French horticulturist named Louis Bosc, and "Beurré" means "buttery," referring to the fruit's soft, juicy texture.
Characteristic features are a long tapering neck and russet skin. Famous for its warm cinnamon color, the Bosc pear is often used in drawings, paintings, and photography due to its shape. Its white flesh is denser, crisper and smoother than that of the 'Williams' or 'D'Anjou' pear. It is called the "aristocrat of pears". It is suitable to be used in poaching.

Am 21. September 2024 konnte ich bei Hermannspiegel im osthessischen Haunetal diesen interessanten Lokzug aufnehmen. Mutmaßlich aus dem Bombardier-Werk in Kassel kommend, passierten die für die ungarische ÖBB-Tochter RCH bei Akiem angemietete 185 639, die Railadventure 111 210 sowie eine ebenfalls für RCH fahrende Lok der Baureihe 285 meinen Standpunkt. "Válts Vasútra!" bedeutet übrigens sinngemäß "Auf die Schiene umsteigen!". Im Bildhintergrund sieht man eine in Reichsbahn-Farben gehaltene 232 in Richtung Bebra fahren.
On 21 September 2024, I was able to take this interesting locomotive train at Hermannspiegel in eastern Hesse. Presumably coming from the Bombardier factory in Kassel, 185 639 rented from Akiem for the Hungarian ÖBB subsidiary RCH, Railadventure 111 210 and a class 285 locomotive also running for RCH passed my point of view. By the way, ‘Válts Vasútra!’ means ‘Change to the railway!’. In the background you can see a 232 in Reichsbahn colours heading towards Bebra.
Seun means son in Afrikaans and this young male hippo played his supporting role with Jessica very well.
He too is a rescue hippo but, because he is so much younger than Jessica, is still happy to entertain tourists and almost opens his mouth on command.
He is also wild and can move up and down the river as he desires but is so much more vulnerable because he is male and as a result spends much of his time close to home.

Saheliyon-ki-Bari (Courtyard of the Maidens) is a major garden and a popular tourist space in Udaipur in Indian state of Rajasthan. It lies in northern part of the city and has fountains and kiosks, a lotus pool and marble elephants. It was built by Maharana Bhopal Singh. Saheliyon ki Bari means Garden of the Maidens. There is also a small museum here.
Sahelion Ki Bari' was laid for a group of forty-eight young women attendants who accompanied a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. The gardens set below the embankment of the Fateh Sagar Lake have beautiful lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant- shaped fountains. These fountains are fed by the water of the lake gushing through ducts made for the purpose. Each water channel has its distinct sound and the mingling of these sounds complement the ambience of the place Near to saheliyon-ki-bari is burhani nagar and burhani masjid,vidhiya bhawan school and seva mandir marg.
Saheliyon Ki Bari is one the most beautiful gardens and a major tourist destination in Udaipur. The garden is famous for its lush green lawns, marble art and fountains. English translation of Saheliyon Ki Bari means "Garden of maids". This renowned garden is located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, presenting a green retreat in the dry lands of Rajasthan. Garden of maids was built in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies.
As per the legends, the garden was designed by the king himself and he presented this garden to his queen. Actually, the Queen was accompanied by 48 maids in her marriage. To offer all of them, pleasurable moments away from the political intrigues of the court, this garden was made. This patterned garden used to be the popular relaxing spot of the royal ladies. The queen with her maids and female companions used to come here for a stroll and spend their time in leisure.
Due to this fact, the garden got its name. The superb architecture of the garden provides a breath-taking view to any observer. The garden is embellished with numerous fountains in its four water pools, chiseled kiosks and marble elephants. It is also celebrated for its lotus pool and bird-fountains. The lush green lawns, flowerbeds, and marble pavilions further enhance the romantic ambience of this magnificent garden.
In the later years, Maharana Bhopal Singh really liked this place and built a pavilion of rain fountains. The thought was to form an illusion of rain dancing in cadence with dancing maids. The Kings used to enjoy around the pools and fountains of this garden. These fountains were imported from England and you can trace them along with the main reservoir of the garden. The main reservoir has four black marbled kiosks in its corners and one white marbled kiosk in its center. On the top of kiosks, these fountains are in the form of sculpted birds that spurts water from their beaks producing the rain effect.
The museum exhibiting the huge collection of royal households is another attraction of this garden. It has many ancient pictures and things of the bygone period. Sight of stuffed cobras and other animals will definitely add a tint of adventure to your trip. Above all, you can stroll through the shady lawns, where the bunch of bougainvillea will bend down to greet you. Today, Saheliyon ki Bari has become the pleasure park for the recreation of Udaipur dwellers.
Garden of Maids is actually a place to visit by any visitor to this city. The crystalloid fountains, lotus pool, marbled elephants sprinkling water and many more attractions provide truly a picturesque sight to behold.

In Navajo, áshįįh łibá, means gray salt, fitting for this area in northwestern New Mexico, washed out of the surrounding grass and scrublands. The phonetic translation, Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah, is the nomenclature Bureau of Land Management uses for this wilderness area north of the Chaco Cultural National Historical Park.
Not too far from the much-photographed Alien Throne formation, this pillar arises from the sandstone floor, reminding me of the story from a different cultural background, in which Lot's wife turns back to look at the Lord's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah despite being instructed not to and is transformed into a pillar of salt.

109/365 -Around the house - Day 109
Come fall, here in Central Florida the Ospreys gather at the inlets to gorge on migrating mullet and other fish. I think, but not sure, that this poor victim is a species of menhaden.
...last year, but exactly like the weather today.
Look at the wet and messy feathers, and a not very sharp focus. :(
Also known by the name of Dirty face, the Red-fronted parakeet (Pyrrhura frontalis)/ Tiriba (in portuguese) is a bird of the Psittacidae family that inhabits forest regions, usually in flocks. Suffers from habitat loss.
Its scientific name means: do (Greek) purrhos = with the color of the flame of fire, red; and -diamonds = with the tail; and from (Latin) frontalis, frontis = forehead, front, forehead. ⇒ (Bird with) red tail and forehead.
It measures between 24 and 28 centimeters in length and weighs between 72 and 94 grams.
It is green, even on the cheeks, with a brownish ear area. Front, abdomen and underside of the tail red. It has no apparent external differences between males and females.
It prefers small fruits, but also eats large fruits, seeds and nuts. It usually balances on branches, staying upside down while eating.
It nests in cavities in tree trunks where 3 to 5 eggs are laid, whose dimensions are around 26 x 21 millimeters and which are incubated by the female for about 30 days. When the young are born, they are fed by the parents, especially by the male, for about 45 days.
Geographic distribution
It occurs from Bahia to Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to the Atlantic Forest, Goiás and the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.
It usually moves in flocks of 10 to 40 individuals.

The idea to this Rover isn't new, I've built something similar three years ago. This time I've tried to make every single wagon monochrome, due to the parts in my stash these are the old Legoland colours - and grey. Only six waggons on the seventh? Okay, add a bunt(*) one.
The figure on that last wagon looks slightly familiar, but I've never seen Ben smile before, so I'm not sure.
(*) bunt doesn't translate well. It means as much as colourful, but with many different colours.

The name Trabant in German means “satellite” or “companion” and was inspired by the Soviet Sputnik satellite. In the East Germany was en-vogue the communism. Not the real one, but the one replicated in the furniture style, in the broken-down automobiles and inside the shopping bags. (The real socialism has become a capitalism product as anything else). As far as the ruling Communist party was concerned, the Trabi was good enough. They drove decent Soviet Volgas, so they weren’t concerned with what common ppl drove. The engineers, though, they did give a shit and they engineered the steel unibody (with Duroplast body skins) Trabant P50 in secret and were able to get it into production just because they only told the Head Commies about it when it was done.
But to raise the myriad issues with East Germany's people's car is to miss the point, for the importance of the Trabant transcends its worthiness as an automobile. The intense struggle to design and turn out these cars in a country so paranoid to have built a real and ideological wall at its border shows how perseverance and a willingness to think outside the box helped a group of ambitious engineers to overcome enormous hurdles and preserve the right to free thought.
