ITV Border's Sandy McCracken arrived at the cottage with cameraman Paul yesterday to film a short piece for the ITV programme "Border Life". The sun shone brightly and the Cruck Cottage looked fantastic following the recent repairs carried out to the thatched roof and having been freshly lime washed by our army of community volunteers.
Once again local residents came along to help us make this another "special" occasion, becoming the audience for the day. Interviews were given by Michael, Willie and Bill Lawson providing an insight into the Cruck Cottages past, present and future - they were excellent.
Our thanks to all those who once again gave their time to help us - it is, as always, greatly appreciated!

Just a little break from the south Texas bird action. ;-)
We visited the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center in Corpus Christi. One of the Coastal Bend’s major visitor destinations and leading nature tourism facilities, the 180-acre South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center showcases nine uniquely-designed floral exhibits and gardens, including the acclaimed Orchid House and Plumeria Garden--plus the Bromeliad Conservatory and Butterfly House. A ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ with Gator Lake, shaded Bird & Butterfly Trail, birding tower, Palapa Grande, wetlands boardwalk and Oso Loop Trail make this a key site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail for both shore birds and woodland song birds. The nature tourism destination also offers the Hummingbird Garden, Rose Garden and Pavilion, Arid Garden, Butterfly Garden, Sensory Garden, and EarthKind Demonstration Trial Gardens.

©Lela Bouse-McCracken ::: I was completely mesmerized by the colors, patterns & shapes of this fungi which had taken over a dead & decaying tree. I "think" I took some with a larger DOF, but I haven't found them yet. However, they must be on one of these DVDs. ;-)
Also, I've just experienced what some of you have mentioned. Flickr is messing with the color of my photos. I mentioned earlier how my shots were looking washed out & I was blaming it on my laptop. Not So! Flickr is doing it. I know now because when I uploaded this the first time, it was perfect on my screen - but washed out on flickr. Thus, I had to reset the saturation & re-do the upload. Bad on YOU, Flickr!! :P
