A new house. So here's Earth. Only it's like this big old house. And, it's kind of polluted, dirty, and smoky. Grease on the walls, soot in the chimney. So, they send in their interstellar housecleaners. Send in their broom. Sweep us all up. That's what this it is, it's a broom. Using our own machines to sweep us right off.

Thuds of the ball to record the maximum number of bounces, bells to keep the participants of Musical Chair on their toes and joyous screams as the rope of Tug of War finally declared the winning side, heralded the morning at Udgam School. These were just some of the activities which were going on in Senior School along with Dumb Charades, Guessing Games and plenty more. If the Seniors were having fun, the children of Middle School were not far behind in games with Hop Skotch, Dog and Bone, Tug of War and other indigenised traditional games. The children of senior classes demonstrated to their younger friends through presentations and posters about the relevance of Children’s Day, about Pandit Nehru, his childhood and achievements.
Primary School had activities throughout the day in all classes. These included classic and cartoon movies fully loaded with cupcakes and popcorn, speeches about the importance of the day, craft work, wish tree making, card making and sandwich making. One singular idea was writing about their partner (only positive qualities) and presenting it to him/her.
The juniormost section, Preprimary had an amazing time too. They had a Puppet show which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Then they had a’ visit’ from Chacha Nehru which was a good way to acquaint them with the great statesman on whose birth anniversary Children’s Day is celebrated. The child had a funfilled day which was over too soon.

4381. Harnessed to his swivel-mounted, ammunition drum-fed weapon, HMAS KAPUNDA swings it towards its maximum 85 elevation.
Named for the ancient Zurich suburb where its Swiss manufacturers were located, the 20mm Oerlikon gun was based on an early WWI design by German Reinhold Becker. Continued development into the 1930s produced a number of variants, including an anti-tank gun and an aircraft cannon.
In its naval applications, it was to become one of the most widely used close-range AA weapons of WWII, although the Oerlikon was at first spurned by the Royal Navy. An unyielding campaign by Lord Louis Mountbatten to have it trailed was in vain until Sir Roger Backhouse became first Sea Lord and the first Oerlikons were ordered.
When licensed for manufacture in britain, the plans were smuggled from Switzerland in 1940, after the fall of France.
The Oerlikon fired at 450 rpm. Reports of its range vary from 1000 yards to more than twice that height in the arms. The weapon's problem was that it lacked hitting power against heavier aircraft, or Japanese kamikaze, and the 40 bofors gun was a major step up in that regard.
Nonetheless the Oerlikons were a significant improvement on the machineguns mounted on many lighter vessels, and it was an ideal size for ships such as the Bathurst Class corvettes, on which it had a number of successes against Japanese aircraft [we don't know how many, but recorded successes seem not uncommon]. The gun was also used for enemy shore strafing, and from its depictions in war art it seems to have been a popular weapon in the Australian Navy.
The most famous Oerlikon gunner in the RAN was Ordinary Seaman Edward 'Teddy' Sheean, who famously went down with HMAS ARMIDALE still firing, in the Arafura Sea on Dec. 1, 1942, as survivors from the ship were being strafed in the water. The youngest of 14 children from Lower Barrington Tasmania, the 18-year-old Sheean had been a former farm labourer. The Collins Class submarine is named for him, and in 2011 his name was one of 10 service personnel to be considered by an awards review committee for a posthumous award of the Victoria Cross.

Everybody jokes about the heaters in old Land Rovers. (Mr. Wolf told me to expect the amount of warmth one feels holding a hand over a toaster.) It was cold and rainy today but once the the motor got warmed up I had just enough warm air to give me a little visibility. Don’t know how this is gonna work come January and February.

Ball and chain for the most dangerous criminals who were housed in this maximum security cell that was next to the hanging chamber where public executions by hanging would take place. However, I'm not sure if anyone was ever hung. From what I understand only one person was hung in this old courthouse/jail, but i'm not certain.
