Matthew McDermott swam and finished third in the Naples Island Swim on Sunday, August 21, 2022. The event consists of three swims of varying lengths in Alamitos Bay in Long Beach. The most challenging event is the three-mile swim that circumnavigates Naples Island.

Benni and Matthew from Kentucky met at the beach this week. It was love at first sight since Matthew was missing his black standard poodle back home and Benni was a good substitute.
They played on the beach for a while and Benni and I started to leave when Matthew headed into the water. Benni pulled the leash out of my hand and went to join him. The water was cold but Matthew was determined to swim in the Pacific ocean.
When I picked my youngest up at school Friday he was beaming... he was given the weekly "super kid" award for good behavior in the classroom ( a dramatic reversal from the previous week)! As a part of the celebration of this honor... he gets to bring home a plush toy named "motor" for the weekend. As you can see... he is quite pleased!!!

Stillwater, Minnesota. While waiting to be photographed by a wedding photographer my nephew readily posed for me.
Modern reconstruction of the original Matthew that John Cabot sailed to Newfoundland in 1497. Built between 1994 and 1996 on Redcliffe Quay, in May 1997 the modern Matthew set off on its own transatlantic voyage to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Cabot’s famous voyage of exploration to Newfoundland.
The ship today is a much-loved part of Bristol’s maritime heritage with a busy schedule of public and private hire boat trips, school trips, film and festival work, and corporate and celebratory events.

Matthew Whitaker, a resident of Hackensack NJ, is truly a gifted musician. His desire to play music began at 3 years old when his grandfather gave him a small Yamaha keyboard. At 9 years old Matthew began to teach himself how to play the Hammond B3 organ.
Matthew attends the Lighthouse Music School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in New York City where he studies classical piano and drums. He also attends The Harlem School of the Arts where he studies jazz styles for the piano and is a member of the Advance Jazz Combo and Jazz House Kids in Montclair, NJ where he is a member of the organ ensemble.
He has performed before the United Nations Youth Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center and internationally in Capri Italy, Tetouan Morocco, Vienne France, Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. Matthew has been recognized by various organizations and has appeared on US and Japanese television.
Matthew was a winning participant in the “Amateur Night at the Apollo Child Stars of Tomorrow”; opening performer for Stevie Wonder’s induction into the Apollo’s hall of fame; guest artist for the Jazz Foundation of America Gala events; performed with Roy Ayers, Dr Lonnie Smith, Rhoda Scott, Ray Chew, James Carter, Jon Batiste, D.D, Jackson; Arturo O’ Farrill, Wayne Brady, Jazz Mafia Symphony; with Ozomatli and ‘The New York Pops’ Orchestra; and with Hamiet Bluiett and his Bio-Electric Ensemble.

Gown features origami-inspired silk organza detailing to the bodice, and pleated detailing down to the hip.
Pink silk forms a sash at the hip, ending in an asymetrical bow. Extravagant clusters of crystal florettes anchor the bow and add weight to the frothy gown.
Fully repainted with sea-blue eyes, shimmering shadow, and warm lips.
Her hair has been pulled back into one of my trademark chignons, accented with miniature vintage millener's flowers (in the softest of pinks!)
Swarovski crystal cluster earrings pull several shades of pink together to create depth of color and sparkle.

Picture taken in Primrose Hill during one of our photowalks for the London Walkabout crew. Matthew gladly offered himself to be in front of the sunset and while he was finishing his cigarette I was able to get this fantastic shot with my 50mm lenses and in manual focus, getting a really nice sun flare and light bokeh that adds some magic moment to the picture.
Post produced in lightroom to correct the highlights.

Matthew worked in the building where I work. He recently joined the National Guard. He was a few months away from his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, and we talked for awhile about the duties of the National Guard.
"If you don't mind my asking," I asked "Why did you join the Guard?"
"Well," he replied,"I felt it was my duty."
