The Matthew is a replica wooden ship, built in 1997 to commemorate 500 years since John Cabot sailed from Bristol to Newfoundland in the original Matthew. A replica crossing was made at the time without the use of engines but, as you can see, they get used in the meandering river Avon today.

The Matthew.
The Matthew is a faithful reconstruction of the boat used by John Cabot when he discovered Newfoundland in 1497.
Explorer and navigator John Cabot was born Giovanni Caboto in Italy around 1450. By 1495, he had moved to Bristol, England, with his family. He made a voyage in 1497 on the ship Matthew and claimed land in Canada—mistaking it for Asia—for King Henry VII of England.

He was just stepping out and past me when I recognized him from earlier this year, the zamboni driver!
He said business had been steady and he expected it to pick up on the week where school was out for everyone.
He had just changed out a Zamboni blade and was looking forward to a short break before the end of the day.

El trompetista californiano afincado en Cataluña Matthew Lee Simon ha participado en múltiples proyectos junto a músicos clave de la música moderna y el jazz nacional e internacional. La lista incluye a Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Guy Laffite, Al Cohn, Tete Montoliu, Jerry Lewis, Natalie Cole, Dave Liebman y un largo etcétera. Posee además una dilatada experiencia docente, como profesor de trompeta e improvisación en la Fundació Aula de Música de Barcelona desde 1982 y de trompeta jazz en la Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya. Fundador del grupo Transatlantic, ha participado y grabado CDs con Max Sunyer Septeto, Carles Benavent - Joan Albert Amargós Grupo, Manel Camp, Iñaki Salvador, Princess of Time, Bebo Valdés o Dave Liebman y la Orquesta de Cámara Teatre Lliure, entre otros. The Californian living in Catalunya trumpeter Matthew Lee Simon has been involved in multiple projects with key players in modern music and jazz and abroad. It also has extensive teaching experience as professor of trumpet and improvisation in the Music Classroom Foundation of Barcelona since 1982 and jazz trumpet at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya. Transatlantic Group Founder, participated and recorded CDs with Septeto Max Sunyer, Carles Benavent - Joan Albert Amargós Group, Manel Camp, Iñaki Salvador, Princess of Time, Bebo Valdes and Dave Liebman and Lliure Theatre Chamber Orchestra, among others. Morning Folks, I took these pictures since I'm being nominated for Naval Architect of the year for the mobile area which is pretty cool. This really a result of my sweet God who has lined me up for success despite my sin. We’re also having our first-born son today, should arrive via c section around noon our time.
