I doodled all over my maths.

Math methods, taught in the Spring of 2007 by Dr. Feller (aka "Doc") covered complex variables, Fourier analysis, and probability and statistics.

Math Fold-ables plus some

For the Alabama Statewide Mathematics Competition held in February: ASMS won first place in District VII, Division One! Due to spring break and timing of the competition, we only had two participate instead of a usual team of FOUR. However, just these two students' scores allowed us to score 8th place in the State for Division One.

Individual awards are for the following:

Second Place in District VII, Division One: Joseph Sherrod

First Place in District VII, Division One: James Kim

For the Mobile Mathematics Olympiad held in February, we had several students participate.

Individual awards are for the following:

Participation: Rachel Jordan

Third Prize: Julia Taylor

Second Prize: Emma Saalwaechter

First Prize: James Kim and Marlan Zha

James Kim qualified for a trip to the little big apple in Manhattan, Kansas to participate in the Manhattan Mathematical Olympiad and won 2nd PLACE for high school!

In March we had a group of students participate in The Math Kangaroo Competition. We ha

The Best Maths Formula

Doing math problems while waiting for dinner...

This is oh-so-relevant right now.

we take turns flipping over the cards one by one; the other person has to watch and slap pre-determined numbers. you have to pay attention because you lose your card if another card is stacked atop it before you slap it. T thinks it is so fun, and i like it because it promotes rapid recognition of numbers. we're also doing simple math problems with this: since a perfect score is four, i ask him after each point how many cards are left to get. he's not exactly "doing math," but i hope he is becoming comfortable with how numbers fit together in different ways. when he has one card there are three left, when he has two cards there are two left, etc.

The Math Library has six computers. Five are “full set of application” computers that patrons log into, just like in the computer labs on campus. The Math Library also has one “selected resources” computer that just goes to library resources, so no login is necessary. Wireless Internet access is also available.

One of our favorite living math activities... cause we eat everything that's left over!!

Math homework. Can you see the hello kitty pencil?
