Math Blaster is one of the educational games for kids that was launched in 2011 by Knowledge Adventure. This mathematics-based game is rated for players from age 6 to 12. The company also has another online game called Jump Start that is aimed at pre-school children. Parents who sign their children up for membership at Math Blaster get the Jump Start program for free. As with many other online games, children can play Math Blaster for free; however, universal access to all features requires a monthly $5 subscription. Players download the game’s application from the Math Blaster website and then access the game on secure servers. The game is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Ever wondered what is the mathematical equations that govern the ripple formation of dunes ? Why there is order and patterns around in nature when it seems to ostensibly contradict the laws of thermodynamics concerning entropy ? Why are we humans attracted to symmetry ? Why do we seek order ?
Why ?

This beautiful little book adorns my desktop in the curriculum dept. Copyright 1905, Eleventh Edition, 1915, 303 pages without images, mostly exercises, minimal explanation.
It's a visible link to the past, a way to honour our experience. It's also very compact!

“Oh dear,” replied Serpent. “How mean…”

My six year old first grade autistic son's math abilities (right) vs. what the rest of his class is doing (left). :)
Display was set up with cars already coloured by class placed on the lines of the 'car park'. Number plates were also written by the class and I asked individual children to place their numer plates on the relevant 'car park' level. This was a display to show odds and evens, place value and sequencing.

Quackup vs Math is an educational video game that I created for a class at the University of La Verne. Its an adventure game where you have to do timed math problems (in either addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) as quickly as you can in an allotted time.
It has been tested by many children (in Elementary and Middle Schools in Templeton and Atascadero) and they really like it! I also used it a lot when I worked in a math intervention lab to help the students with their multiplication facts.
In the future I hope to have a version available for PDAs and Smart phones.
You can download the latest June 2010 Windows Version here: www.sendspace.com/file/dfy6qh.
Please let me know if you find any bugs, so I can fix them. :)
