It has been so long since I have posted anything on flickr...they changed the uploading process! Anyway, I miss flickr so much. I keep thinking I will upload something and I keep putting it off. So, here is a little taste of what I have been up to. More to come!

edit: this is from a recent maternity session.

A little St. Patty's theme for our maternity shoot.

Yesterday was the most fabulous day! I did a maternity shoot for my son and daughter-in-law - they are due in June. When I had my children, there was no such thing as a maternity photo session...we tried to hide our pregnancies as much as possible!!

Could not post yesterday, due to our continuing internet issues. It's working today - because the technician is supposed to come!!

In addition to the warm and fuzzy usual maternity stuff, she wanted something with a fashion mag look.

A couple whitetail does laze around enjoying a rest in our lower acreage. They will give birth to fawns soon. Based on their girth it looks like they might have twins, which is common.

Each year we celebrate the first hummingbird sighting, and the first fawns arrival. We now have dozens of hummingbirds. Looking forward to enjoying some bambis soon. Won't be long now.

We are blessed with having a small herd living with us year round (our flowers and shrubs don't think so though).

If you want to see something extra special please check out my dear friend Mike's unique and amazing albino whitetail deer at www.flickr.com/photos/mmnorthwoods/. He also has an excellent website: lifeinthenorthwoods.com/. Mike has the best collection on the web of these incredible whitetails (white bodies too). His landscapes and nature images of Wisconsin and his travels are also outstanding and very impressive. I love my brownies, but Mike's whities are truly magical. I highly recommend you check them out.

Thanks for taking a peak. Fawns on the way.

My first attempt to take maternity photos.

My 1st Maternity Session - Also one of my favorite photos... I only wish I had my Nikon D5100 at that time.

It's not too often that we get to have our pictures taken by another photographer. This weekend we had Lacey McKay from McKay Portraits (http://www.mckayportraits.com) take our Maternity photos. We were so excited with the results. It's fun to be able to work with other photographers to see how they work and what it's like to be on the client side of things.

I think far too often photographers have the attitude that all other photographers are "competition". We will never run out of people to photograph. There will always be a niche that we can call our own. Working with another photographer, even in a setting like this, is an excellent way to make everyone better at what they do. Improving our skills is beneficial for everyone.

Thanks Lacey for the great time!

Maternity shoot I did, she wanted a variety of shots. So we did some very standard, we did some very different as well.

Maternity by Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) was an artistic virtuoso who co-founded Cubism, and produced an astounding 20,000 paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures during his brilliant 70-year career. Picasso’s unparalleled body of work was so vast, and its phases so unique, that art historians have divided it into specific periods. A child prodigy, Picasso took advanced classes at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona when he was only 15. His revolutionary Cubist works, with their distorted shapes and fragmented forms, established art as a genre that does not need to literally represent reality. Zealously embracing every medium from primitive art to sketches to Surrealism, Picasso had an unrivaled influence upon 20th century art.
