Astronaut Patrick G. Forrester works with the Materials International Space Station Experiment (MISSE) during extravehicular activity. The first MISSE experiment exposed 750 material samples to space from 2001 to 2005 to collect information on how different materials weather the space environment. The objective of MISSE is to develop affordable opportunities to conduct critical space exposure tests of space materials and components planned for future spacecraft. The experiment was the first externally mounted experiment on the International Space Station. On May 18, 2014, the SpaceX Dragon returned the latest MISSE experiments, MISSE-8, to Earth. Materials scientists from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, helped prepare samples for flight and will analyze the samples post-flight. Marshall worked with commercial companies and other government agencies to fly 96 experiment samples on MISSE-8, including thermal control coatings, heat shield materials, solar array materials and environmentally friendly spacecraft components, such as multi-layer insulation, paint markings, and innovative polymers.

The Chillida-Leku Museum is a large space of gardens and forests and a remodeled farmhouse (Zabalaga), where the sculptor Eduardo Chillida Juantegui distributed a large sample of his work. It is located in the vicinity of Hernani, Guipúzcoa province. Inaugurated on September 16, 2000, after 10 years of activity, on December 31, 2010 it closed its doors due to the economic crisis.

It was announced on November 30, 2017 that Chillida-Leku would reopen in 2018, with the Swiss gallery Hauser & Wirth being the exclusive representative of Eduardo Chillida's work. However, the reopening was postponed to April 17, 2019. .

On August 23, 2019, the museum was selected by the American magazine Time in its World’s Greatest Places 2019 list as one of the best places in the world to visit, being the only Spanish representation.

The museum is distributed along a 13-hectare plot.8 Outside, 40 sculptures of very different sizes are displayed. The largest are Looking for light 27 tons and 9 meters high and Lotura XXXII 60 tons, and others such as Stela V are no more than one meter. The materials for the exterior sculptures are steel and stone, predominantly pink granite. The sculptures in the gardens can be touched, so the visitor feels the strength of the materials.

The artist's most delicate works are displayed inside the farmhouse. Many of them are made of materials that could not withstand inclement weather, such as wood, alabaster or wool. In addition, there is an exhibition of studies of the human body in painting and sculpture. Finally, there is a small exhibition of photographs of the Peine de los vientos, a famous work by Chillida that is located at one end of La Concha de San Sebastián.

The farmhouse dates from the 16th century and has the name of Zabalaga. Chillida was looking for a building in which to show his work, and when he discovered it he found this farmhouse from 1543 in a state of ruins. With the help of the architect Joaquín Montero, he developed a restoration project and created a large interior space, divided into two floors. The ground floor covers the entire surface, while the upper floor covers only part of it.

Oi meninas, vou tentar passar, ok!

MATERIAL:

-caixa MDF

-tecidos ( 2 a 3 estampas fazendo um composê)

-cola branca para artesanato

-pincel

Veja o passo 2.

Groundbreaking for Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1 occurred in 1971, and the building was completed in 1973. The campus itself first opened in 1970, with classes initially held in downtown storefronts while its permanent facility was being constructed.

Hilario Candela was the architect of Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1. As a Cuban-born American architect, he designed key Brutalist-style buildings for several of the college's campuses, including Wolfson.

Candela was a key member of the architectural firm Pancoast, Ferendino, Grafton & Skeels, which designed the initial buildings for the North and Kendall campuses in the 1960s.

His signature "tropical Brutalist" style, with its use of raw concrete, is a defining feature of the Wolfson Campus architecture.

In addition to his work for Miami-Dade College, Candela is also known for designing the iconic Miami Marine Stadium.

Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Building 1 was designed in the Brutalist style, specifically a regional variant referred to as "tropical Brutalism".

Elements of this architectural style as seen in the Wolfson Campus include:

Raw concrete: The buildings prominently feature exposed concrete, emphasizing the material's raw, unadorned nature.

Massive, geometric forms: Brutalist buildings are known for their blocky and monolithic appearance. Architect Hilario Candela, who designed the Wolfson Campus, referred to his vision as "a small city of interconnected geometric masses".

Function over form: In keeping with Brutalist ethos, the building's design emphasizes its function as a modern educational institution.

Adaptation to the Miami climate: In this "tropical Brutalist" interpretation, the buildings use covered walkways and strategically placed open spaces to provide constant shade and cover from the rain.

I was eagerly anticipating my return to Fragas do Eume!

After more than a year of being unable to visit one of my favorite spots due to continuous closures from poor access conditions, I finally enjoyed a morning there again.

Despite not spending too much time, it was a productive morning, and I brought back enough material to work on for days. I wanted to start by sharing a composition that might look familiar if you've been following me for a while, as I have a very similar autumn photograph from a couple of years ago.

It's remarkable how a place can transform with the changing seasons while its essence remains timeless. I aimed to include those ancient roots in the foreground, showcasing their intricate textures to create a compelling starting point for the viewer's eye. In the background, you can see the iconic arch of the legendary bridge over the Sesín River, standing as a testament to the enduring beauty of this magical forest.

Some elements if defined / appear material. // Others seem immaterial. // This image depicts / a state of transition
