Brad is one of the nicest neighbors of Open Source. This picture is taken about 5 minutes after I met him, at the block party held about 24 hours after my arrival. Stoops are so ingrained in my mind as being essential to Brooklyn that I had to modify his t-shirt for him.
It looks like some #OWS types passed through a police parking lot, but there's actually a film shoot going on...

I had an idea to make Papier Mache beads and wanted to use some Chinese newspaper that I had hoarded :-) I tore rough strips and used watered-down PVA glue to sitck the newspaper to the bead core. It didn't have the look that I wanted (too untidy)so I experimented with neat scissor-cut strips and this worked far better. Once dry, I used masking tape to help me paint neat lines onto the bead. As you can see, this didn't work at all however I really love the uneven paint lines across the bead so all is good :-)
I planned on building this up as a fixed gear, so naturally it had to look like a clown's underwear: baby blue and tractor yellow.
One of the most interesting sculpture degree shows.
