For Macro Mondays Pick Two Curved Pottery. A headpiece that broke off a clay face mask purchased years ago in Costa Rica. Lit with a mix of ambient light, red-filtered flashlight and a LED bulb inserted into the piece where it was broken. Resting on a vest.

Side closeup of the head of the resin mockup of TOPEN, one of the Micronaut-derived toys from the early 1980s LORDS OF LIGHT action figure line.

The head of the Micronaut figure this is derived from was something of a walking clam, with a diminutive torso that was mostly head. The arms were attached in the circular holes you see on the side of this mockup's head! A hand-tooled chunk of resin helps construct a new back for the head, minus the joint the Micronaut toy had there. The final production Lords of Light Topen has a giant head with eyes added in. Some people have said it looks like a weird big Mardi Gras mask.

For me, Masking is a way of finding comfort in the more difficult social situations. Avoiding a naturally relaxed or sad looking expression, keeping eye contact and talking in different ways depending on the person/group are some of the ways I and others mask. ♥️

I didn’t realise I had been doing this until I began creating my ‘Autismus’ series about my own experiences with autism. I hope to begin understanding it more as I grow: I mask, I camouflage, I blend in. ♥️

I believe that I have subconsciously done this more into my adult life and less as a child. As I grew up, I started finding insecurities in myself and in the way I interacted with others, so my mind helped me by letting me camouflage into my surroundings to find my place. ♥️

I have now learnt that I need to try and avoid relying on my masking. To be unapologetically myself and let go of any fears I have of showing my autism, for it is a beautiful part of who I am. I hope to show my real self to my friends and family, as I believe now that I am comfortable enough to let them love me for who I really am. ♥️

Hey dears,

I hope you have had a great start in the new week *_* I am really busy at the moment but last weekend I tinker some feather masks for Kiana and for Harmony one in black and one in white ^^ It took me the whole weekend to finished them ^^

I want that the black mask pic looks more vintage and pin-up and the white one should be brighter and more editorial style ^^

I will probably later on the week (when I have more timeXD ) upload a group pic of both together wearing the masks ^^

An ancient mask which grants the user the ability to create whirlpools. It also can slightly allow the wearer to use water as well.
