Kaefertreffen Muehlheim 2017
Der Cadillac Eldorado war ein Fahrzeug der Oberklasse (Personal luxury car) der zum General-Motors-Konzern gehörenden Marke Cadillac. Er wurde in diversen Versionen von 1953 bis 2002 hergestellt. Generell wird dabei zwischen den heckangetriebenen Modellen (1953 bis 1965) und den Fahrzeugen mit Frontantrieb (ab 1967) unterschieden. In der ersten Phase waren die Eldorado-Modelle in erster Linie Cabriolets, die zeitweise auch Eldorado Biarritz hießen.

"Wartime bomber in the Markermeer identified as Short Stirling BK716
Recovery experts have identified a Second World War bomber lying on the bottom of the Markermeer near Amsterdam, resolving a 12-year-long mystery. Defence ministry specialists are working with a private contractor to retrieve the wreckage of the RAF Short Stirling BK716, which was shot down in March 1943 with all seven crewmen on board. The plane was long believed to be another Short Stirling, the BK710, based on forensic examination of an aluminium panel. It was first discovered in 2008 when a piece of its landing gear was brought up with the anchor of a stranded boat. The volunteer Aircraft Recovery Group contacted the relatives of the BK710’s crew and began a campaign to recover the wreckage and bury the remains of the airmen, which included installing a memorial on Marken island. But 10 years later the discovery of a cigarette case and a wooden mascot prompted a new investigation that identified the BK716 as a more likely candidate. Recovery The recovery operation began on August 31 and is part of a programme funded by the Dutch government to recover around 30 aircraft which are believed to have human remains on board. A spokesman for Almere city council said an engine part had been found during the first week of the search with the plane’s serial number stamped into it, establishing its identity beyond doubt. ‘The municipality of Almere is pleased with this result,’ said Hilde van Garderen, alderman responsible for culture. ‘It is confirmation for the relatives of the crew members.’ The pieces of the plane are thought to be strewn over an area of the lake bed measuring 75 metres squared, equivalent to nearly two football pitches. The sludge on the lake bed is being systematically dredged and sifted to reveal any objects larger than eight millimetres. The operation is expected to last around six weeks altogether."

Die vorne stehende Vase von ca. 1960 stammt laut Marke von der winzigen Firma Rittirsch in Küps, Oberfranken. Tatsächlich hergestellt wurde sie von der einst viel bedeutenderen und größeren Firma Edelstein am gleichen Ort. Im Bildhintergrund eine echte Edelstein-Vase.
Rittirsch produzierte nicht nur selbst, sondern kaufte bei Edelstein oft B-Ware mit Brandfehlern. Diese wurden dann in seinem Atelier von Hand mit Goldfarbe versehen und meist großflächig lackiert, um die Fehler des Ausgangsmaterials zu verdecken. Die Ergebnisse, wie die obige Vase, waren recht adrett. Selbst die Edelstein-Marke am Boden der Vase ist durch ein goldfarbenes Rittirsch-Label - weitgehend - überdeckt.
The red vase seems to be produced by the small bavarian company Rittirsch - so says the label on the bottom. The truth is, it's made by the quite big and - in the 50s-70s - famous company "Edelstein". The vase in the background ist the same model - but with Edelstein brand.
Rittirsch produced their own porcelain, too, but often they bought second or third quality "Edelstein" porcelain and covered the faulty body with varnish - as in this case with red and gold - and resold them. This one, with printed autumn leaves on the front, is at least as beautiful as the original Edelstein vase.

On the first day after our cruise ship left Basel, we stopped at the small village of Breisach on the Rhine. There was a famous old castle up on a hill, which I did not visit; and there were interesting streets to explore down in the village itself.
People enjoyed a morning pastry and cup of coffee, and there was a farmer's market in the small town square ... and that's where I took my photographs.

During the first two weeks of September 2015, we took a river cruise down the Rhine River, and wrapped up the trip with a few days in Berlin. This Flickr album contains various photos from that trip …
We spent the first couple days recovering from jet-lag in Interlaken, Switzerland. This is the site of the Jungfrau and various other spectacular peaks in the Alps range — but it was so foggy that we could hardly see anything. I’ve included a couple of videos of a tram ride down the mountain, as well as some paraglider who floated down into the town park.
We then traveled to Bern, where we got on-board a Viking Cruise ship that headed north for the next several days — eventually arriving in Amsterdam, after making stops nearly every day to see ancient castles and fortresses, as well as various villages and small towns that have survived various wars, tyrants, and regimes for well over a thousand years.
From our final cruise destination in Amsterdam, we flew to Berlin — where we spent a few days at a very nice hotel that turned out to be in what was once East Berlin. Indeed, the separation between East and West Berlin, once so obvious and important, is now almost impossible for a visitor to spot. Except for some rubble, and a few small mementoes (like Checkpoint Charlie, a few blocks from our hotel), there is no obvious difference between East and West from pre-1989 days.

Hier passeert de watertrein richting Somain->Clermont afkomstig van Zee-Brugge met een mooie witte traxx op kop. Altijd een leuk plekje om te wachten. De zon staat net hoog genoeg opdat de grasberm geen schaduw zou werpen op de loc.

The stamps engine house which accommodated a 36 inch engine which powered the stamps used to crush the ore.
Wheal Jenkin was established (as a tin mining site worked by shallow shafts and an adit) when it was taken up in 1824, and worked by the Cornwall Great United Mining Association (London) between 1836-7.
A steam engine was erected at Wheal Jenkin in October 1836 to work 40 head of stamps, and 21 heads of new water-stamps were also under construction to handle the ore from the Cornwall Great United Mines.
In the 1870s Wheal Jenkin it was acquired by the Marke Valley adventurers. In 1881, the mine was re-opened as part of Marke Valley Consols Mines Ltd. Working for tin, the former Whim shaft was re-opened as Bellingham's shaft, and, in 1886, the Holman's shaft (South Caradon) 70" engine was re-erected in a new engine house.
The mine closed in 1890 and there are no records of any attempt to re-prospect the lodes during the early years of the 20th Century.

Der Maybach 57, Maybach 57s bzw. Maybach 62, Maybach 62s waren die einzigen Serienmodelle der Automobilmarke Maybach, seitdem die DaimlerChrysler AG (heutige Daimler AG) diese Marke im Jahr 2002 wieder für die luxuriösesten und teuersten Limousinen des Konzerns ins Leben gerufen hatte. Die Typenbezeichnungen beziehen sich auf die Fahrzeuglängen in Dezimetern (etwa 5,70 m und 6,20 m).
Am 17. Dezember 2012 wurde das letzte Modell montiert.

Prachtige omstreden brug......
Beheerder de Marke liet de brug onder meer na overleg met de provincie Gelderland, aanleggen om te voorkomen dat de randen van het ven kapot worden gelopen - om zo flora en fauna te beschermen. Dat ging niet zonder slag of stoot. Stichting Vrienden van de Gorsselse heide probeerde deze - in hun ogen - onnodige ontsiering van de natuur via de rechter te voorkomen, maar haalde bakzeil. Hoewel de stichting zich neerlegde bij de uitspraak, wilde die nog wel voorkomen dat de brug - waarvan de palen al in 2016 werden geplaatst - zou worden afgebouwd in de maanden dat amfibieën winterrust houden. Wederom kreeg de stichting nul op het rekest.
Im November 2011 gab Daimler-Chef Dieter Zetsche bekannt, die Marke Maybach werde 2012 zu Gunsten weiterer Modelle der Mercedes S-Klasse eingestellt. Am 17. Dezember 2012 verließ das letzte Maybach-Fahrzeug die Maybach-Manufaktur im Daimler-Werk Sindelfingen. Verkauft wurden die Maybach-Limousinen noch bis ins Jahr 2013, danach sollte der Name Maybach nicht mehr genutzt werden.

On December 17, 2012, the last Maybach vehicle left the Maybach factory at the Daimler plant in Sindelfingen. Established (as a tin mining site worked by shallow shafts and an adit) when it was taken up in 1824, and worked by the Cornwall Great United Mining Association (London) between 1836-7.
A steam engine was erected at Wheal Jenkin in October 1836 to work 40 head of stamps, and 21 heads of new water-stamps were also under construction to handle the ore from the Cornwall Great United Mines.
In the 1870s Wheal Jenkin it was acquired by the Marke Valley adventurers. In 1881, the mine was re-opened as part of Marke Valley Consols Mines Ltd. Working for tin, the former Whim shaft was re-opened as Bellingham's shaft, and, in 1886, the Holman's shaft (South Caradon) 70" engine was re-erected in a new engine house.
The mine closed in 1890 and there are no records of any attempt to re-prospect the lodes during the early years of the 20th Century.

I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me used stamps on paper! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
