Established (as a tin mining site worked by shallow shafts and an adit) when it was taken up in 1824, and worked by the Cornwall Great United Mining Association (London) between 1836-7.
A steam engine was erected at Wheal Jenkin in October 1836 to work 40 head of stamps, and 21 heads of new water-stamps were also under construction to handle the ore from the Cornwall Great United Mines.
In the 1870s Wheal Jenkin it was acquired by the Marke Valley adventurers. In 1881, the mine was re-opened as part of Marke Valley Consols Mines Ltd. Working for tin, the former Whim shaft was re-opened as Bellingham's shaft, and, in 1886, the Holman's shaft (South Caradon) 70" engine was re-erected in a new engine house.
The mine closed in 1890 and there are no records of any attempt to re-prospect the lodes during the early years of the 20th Century.

Im November 2011 gab Daimler-Chef Dieter Zetsche bekannt, die Marke Maybach werde 2012 zu Gunsten weiterer Modelle der Mercedes S-Klasse eingestellt. Am 17. Dezember 2012 verließ das letzte Maybach-Fahrzeug die Maybach-Manufaktur im Daimler-Werk Sindelfingen. Verkauft wurden die Maybach-Limousinen noch bis ins Jahr 2013, danach sollte der Name Maybach nicht mehr genutzt werden.
In November 2011, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche announced that the Maybach brand would be discontinued in 2012 in favor of other Mercedes S-Class models. On December 17, 2012, the last Maybach vehicle left the Maybach factory at the Daimler plant in Sindelfingen. The Maybach limousines were sold until 2013, after which the Maybach name was no longer to be used. 😬

De Eldorado war ein Fahrzeug der Oberklasse (Personal luxury car) der zum General-Motors-Konzern gehörenden Marke Cadillac.
Mit dem Modelljahr 1959 wurde der Eldorado – ebenso wie der DeVille – aus der Series 62 herausgelöst und zu einer eigenständigen Baureihe gemacht.

Met het miezerige weer van de laatste dagen, dacht ik: Laten we nog eens een plaatje tonen met zonneschijn!
Toen ik eventjes geleden naar het fotopunt in de bocht van Marke reed, viel me onmiddellijk op dat er iets veranderd was. Ze hadden namelijk een stuk van de heuvel weggegraven waardoor fotograferen vanop de heuvel niet meer mogelijk bleek.
Net naast dit plekje bevindt zich een parkeerplaats voor een 3 tal auto's, echter sommigen denken dat dit een stortplek is dumpen er dan ook geregeld afval. Of de maatregel van het afgraven er iets mee te maken heeft of het zal oplossen is nog maar de vraag...
Gelukkig kan je ook staan waar ik op de 28ste november stond. Het plekje ligt slechts enkele meters verder, het is te zeggen: 1 portaal verder.
Hier passeert de 1322 vanuit Aalst met de glucose trein naar Nesle-Somme.
Een klein detail: Let eens op de treinbestuurder. Smakelijk zou ik zeggen, of zou hij toch blokfluit aan het spelen zijn?;-)

Nachdem zuvor bereits bestimmte Ausstattungslinien anderer Cadillac-Modelle die Zusatzbezeichnung DeVille erhalten hatten, wurde der Cadillac DeVille ab 1959 zu einer eigenständigen Modellreihe, die bis 2005 in verschiedenen Serien als zweitüriges Coupe DeVille und als viertürige Limousine Sedan DeVille angeboten wurde; zeitweise war auch ein viersitziges Cabriolet im Programm.

Climbing Col de Turini. Looking back to my training week / holiday after the Three Peaks Bike Race and discovering the back country of Nice. I was surprised how quiet and sometimes even downright deserted it appeared. Certainly made for some peaceful cycling and collecting climbing meters.

Am Col de Turini. Zurückschauend auf meine Trainingswoche / Urlaub nach dem Three Peaks Bike Race und meine Erkundungen des Hinterlands von Nizza. Ich war überrascht wie ruhig und in Teilen richtiggehend verlassen sehr viel davon erschien. Ergab aber ungestörtes Radfahren und Höhenmetersammeln.

Prachtige omstreden brug......
Beheerder de Marke liet de brug onder meer na overleg met de provincie Gelderland, aanleggen om te voorkomen dat de randen van het ven kapot worden gelopen - om zo flora en fauna te beschermen. Dat ging niet zonder slag of stoot. Stichting Vrienden van de Gorsselse heide probeerde deze - in hun ogen - onnodige ontsiering van de natuur via de rechter te voorkomen, maar haalde bakzeil. Hoewel de stichting zich neerlegde bij de uitspraak, wilde die nog wel voorkomen dat de brug - waarvan de palen al in 2016 werden geplaatst - zou worden afgebouwd in de maanden dat amfibieën winterrust houden. Wederom kreeg de stichting nul op het rekest.
