The top of the Marine Building lit up at night with the rising moon.

Vancouver's Art Deco masterpiece designed by architects McCarter and Nairne. When it was completed in 1930 it was the tallest building in the British Empire. The building's terra cotta exterior is richly detailed and meant to look as if the building had risen from the sea and was still encrusted in marine animals, coral and kelp.

Marine One is the call sign of any United States Marine Corps aircraft carrying the President of the United States. It usually denotes a helicopter operated by the HMX-1 "Nighthawks" squadron, either the large VH-3D Sea King or the newer, smaller VH-60N "WhiteHawk", both due to be replaced by the VXX program. A Marine Corps aircraft carrying the Vice President has the call sign Marine Two.

A shot from the seafront in Dunlaoghaire up toward Marine Road. The town hall is on the right and the church spire can be seen in the distance. This road links the seafront with the Main Street where all the shops are. Dunlaoghaire appears a lot in my photos because it’s the main town near where I live. It has also played a major part in my life so far - my first job was here (a chef in Pizzaland) and we socialised here in the pubs and clubs when I was growing up. This was also where i worked when I returned from living in the UK for 25 years. A lot of my photography practice is spent here. It’s an amazing place full of history

Meet Lt. Phil Martinez, veteran of the Ice Planet wars, one of the characters of my next MOC. Now he\'s a security guard, hired by the space diner\'s owner after several attempted robberies.

He doesn\'t need to wear a helmet in outerspace because, well... you can see his face, marked by the wars.

For the background I tried for the first time DigiNik13's aluminium foil technique.

Built in 1930 the Marine building is a great example of art deco architecture in Vancouver. Towering from the background is the architecture of today; the new 36 floor MNP building. The two landmarks are a contrast in style and design that can spark a lot of discussion when comparing architecture today to that of yesterday.
