The Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge in New York City, New York, that crosses Rockaway Inlet. The bridge, which opened on July 3, 1937, connects the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, with Flatbush Avenue to Floyd Bennett Field, Belt Parkway, and the Marine Park neighborhood in Brooklyn. The center span is 540 feet (160 m) long and is normally 55 feet (17 m) above the water but can be lifted to a height of 150 feet (46 m) above water level. With its distinctive twin towers (which house the vertical-lift machinery), the bridge has become an iconic landmark and symbol of the Rockaways.

Even if we cant see it, the shallow seas sprouts of life during spring
@ Askimsbadet, Göteborg
I was lying on a rickety, wooden jetty, in a remote place, looking down into the sea, and watching the marine algae swaying around.
The splendid, if occasionally jaded, late Georgian / early Victorian houses and hotels cosying up to the cliff on Marine Parade in Dawlish have a grandstand view of both the railway line and the sea-front. Something the lucky residents will no doubt appreciate, especially on dour, damp autumn days.
For anyone watching now they will see Cross Country's 9.42am Newcastle - Plymouth Saturday's only HST service (1V54) hurrying by trying to make up some 10 minutes of late running. Sadly it was an ask too far on this occasion with arrival in Plymouth also 10 minutes behind schedule.
Doing the honours are power cars 43321 up front, and 43207 nearest the camera. The train is just about to enter Kennaway Tunnel, one of several short ones on the stretch to Teignmouth as the line alternates between burrowing through the cliffs and riding alongside the exposed seawall just feet from the water.
When the shot was taken the seawall path was closed as a prelude to engineering work to raise it and better protect the railway from the increasingly frequent and damaging winter storms - work that is now complete.
Almost two years since this shot was taken, but seems like a lifetime ago. Best viewed full-screen - commenting off for this one, thanks.

"Located on an important harvesting, gathering and processing site for the Coast Salish peoples, as well as the site of a century-old logging mill camp, echoes of the past add a rich sense of history to this spectacular foreshore park with ocean and mountain views."
It seems each time we travel to Vancouver, we end up in this park. It has a great deal to offer those who walk its trails and for this photographer, plenty of challenging opportunities.

Here is the link to a story about the search for a location for the photo shoot and the nice and surprising encounter with the owner of a building company who turned out to be very helpful.

Marine Drive
The first route round the perimeter of the Great Orme was a footpath constructed in 1858 by Reginald Cust, a trustee of the Mostyn Estate. In 1872 the Great Ormes Head Marine Drive Co. Ltd. was formed to turn the path into a carriage road. Following bankruptcy, a second company completed the road in 1878. The contractors for the scheme were Messrs Hughes, Morris, Davies, a consortium led by Richard Hughes of Madoc Street, Llandudno. The road was bought by Llandudno Urban District Council in 1897
The 4 miles (6.4 km) one-way drive starts at the foot of the Happy Valley. After about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) a side road leads to St Tudno's Church, the Great Orme Bronze Age Copper Mine and the summit of the Great Orme. Continuing on the Marine Drive the Great Orme Lighthouse (now a small hotel) is passed, and, shortly afterwards on the right, the Rest and Be Thankful Café and information centre. Below the Marine Drive at its western end is the site of the wartime Coast Artillery School (1940–1945), now a scheduled monument.
Pigeon's Cove
Pigeon Cove is a serene coastal spot on the Great Orme headland near Llandudno, Wales, renowned for its dramatic cliffs, rich marine life, and tranquil atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks, wildlife spotting—especially seabirds and seals—and peaceful picnics with stunning sea views. This natural cove offers a perfect escape for nature lovers and photographers seeking a quiet retreat by the sea.

Improvising after forgetting to check where the sun was rising. Tried a few super long exposures that didn't work so spent 15 minutes walking up and down the jetty with the 20 sec timer on, much to the amusement of the dog walkers and wild swimmers.
Hopkins Marine Station is the marine laboratory of Stanford University. It is located ninety miles south of the university's main campus, in Pacific Grove, California on the Monterey Peninsula, adjacent to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Clevedon. This was actually taken on the same evening as my last post - the tree in the field. I wanted to stay out with the camera so thought I would find another location to shoot. In all the years I have been here I have seen some fantastic shots of the Marine Lake on the seafront at Clevedon but never been myself. Just managed to get there before the last of the light disappeared. Got wet feet on this one though!
