I brought a couple pieces of wood, a clamp, and some chisels to work. Between phone calls I carved out my first set of dove tails. A few gaps, but I'm happy with my first attempt, especially since I was at work.

If needed, a 6th step would be manual sorting. The speed of the moving band can be controlled depending on the quality of the coffee.
This lens was tricky (for me) to use -- since it is 500mm I need a high shutter speed to minimize my shaky hands but at the same time I can't go too high since I am stuck at f8 and have to compensate with high ISO. I find the D800 goes downhill over 1600 or so...
Still I found it a lot of fun to use since it weighs very little and without the hood is very compact. I only was able to play with it for 30 minutes and the majority of my photos were blurry from camera shake or bad manual focusing, but I managed to get a few pics I liked.
I think even if I don't ever get any great pics from it that I will learn a lot by spending more time figuring out how to use it.

I reduced the shutter speed and the water became blurry - unfortunately it over exposed on the right side of the picture as the sun was shining really brightly onto the water, yet the area I was in was in the shade. It would have been tricky to gain a good balance.
