A couple of MPD operatives read through the Duty Maintenance manuals for the loco they are working on.

It's not so pronounced but here one can see a bit of that famous defect which this lens is known for. What do you think Simon : ) ?

My tiny little helpers from little world gave me once more a helping hand. They did the presets for my last manual focus shooting. :)

Though I do have technologically advanced cameras, I tend to prefer older cameras (all these are second-hand cameras with a 16MP sensor) and use them manually. I am not rejecting technological excellence and sophisticated algorithms. All I am saying is that I have more joy when working manually and that Fuji's old 16MP sensor is really good enough for my purposes. This shot was done with my new (ten year old) Fuji X-Pro1.

I love everything about nature and to be able to walk under this huge and very old Beech Tree at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, is so awe inspiring.... this lens and image does not do this tree justice.... she totally surrounds you with her limbs....
you come out feeling warm and fuzzy....
...we all need to hug a tree whenever we can!!!

This Image was taken with an vintage lens called Pentacon 50mm F1.8 made by Meyer-Optik Görlitz - Those old lenses do have their own caracters and most of the times you gotta focus manually. They do have their own special look. The 50mm Pentacon Lens got produced fromn 1971 - 1978.

Another attempt with this old manual lens. There are some C/A tracks on contours, but the total result is good. (Small white points are by light rain drops, not lens fault)

Watch the Video of that afternoon on Flickr
Hail Core was on top of me on that first storm to the north of the City... I deiced to bail & go pick up my daughter, as she had called & said I want to go...I scooped her up & proceeded south of the city about 20 miles between Minden & Axtell Nebraska!
The 2nd supcell of the day was coming at us from Dawson County. @ That time that would be direcly to our west northwest. This storm was a fast mover. The first storm of the afternoon was only moving at 14 mph... So we didn't have much time to take snaps.
Though I did take a lot of snaps ...but I made a rookie play & didn't reset this focus from manual. I can be a knucklehead sometimes with I'm in the thick of things....
These were the final images of that afternoon. The ones in focus... We arrived just minutes ahead of its approach. Just in time to get these phenomenal captures right underneath the base of this monster!!!

Taken on: Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. (1972)
The original image was shot on Kodachrome ll colour slide film (ASA 25), with Nikon F camera, Nikkor 50mm f2.0 lens. The 50 year old slide had collected a lot of dust and dirt as you can see. The note that I wrote on the slide mount is barely readable: 11.30pm, June 21, 1972. Yes, it was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
It was during the summer break back in 1972 in my first year of university. I took a train across Canada (Montreal to Vancouver), travelled north to the Northwest Territories, and got a summer labourer job in the capital city.
Yellowknife is situated on the northern shore of the Great Slave Lake, about 400km (250 mi) south of the Arctic Circle.
The sunset picture was taken from the shore of Frame Lake, just behind the City's Hockey Arena and Community Hall. Even after the sun had set, the sky never got dark, and the sun would come back up three hours later. On this day, the City was like no other. It was a time to come out to celebrate. You could go shopping all day. Imagine going fishing at midnight, and hearing the birds chirp and loons call! The highlight of the day, of course, was the midnight Golf Tournament, which teed off at 11.59 pm! Yes, you read it right: 11.59pm.
This image is a 2nd generation copy. I converted the original slide image to digital image using an old 10 megapixel Nikon D200 DSLR, and a 55mm f2.8 manual focus Micro-Nikkor lens mounted on a Nikon bellows and a slide holder.
