I managed to take my long lens out for a while this morning and was lucky to find this beautifully marked Black tailed Godwit from Firth hide Dungeness RSPB (it is the closest hide on the trail from the car park ) . Thank you for all your good wishes and kindness I still cannot walk far but this is a good start to my recovery .

I managed to visit the park on Saturday morning before the endless rain started. The so-called woodland garden of the park is one of my favourite areas there and it has many lovely details to discover like the metal owl and hedgehogs which you see in this photo. There is a squirrel too but it didn't fit into the photo. :)

In the comments I add a capture of a huge insect hotel which is also part of that woodland garden, just in case you are looking for inspiration for your own garden and like to think BIG !:)

Managed to get one really clear photo of this cat. It was hiding in some heavy shadow.

This came in joint 3rd place in the Planet Earth Animals & Bird Group contest in April 2019.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

Finally managed to catch a break with the weather - unseasonably warm - nice to see the blue sky, with a lovely side light to enjoy. This scene is on the higher ground and the back end of the Mary Gilbert walk.

I managed to get a clear shot after a lengthy approach to this juvenile Coopers Hawk. Lots of branches in front of it so by the time I got a clear shot I was much closer than I wanted and had to take it vertically at 700mm, so this is the entire frame. The bird had been eating a small bird just prior, and you can see some of the feathers on the perch just to the right of the hawk. They are more likely to tolerate your presence if they are eating and if you don't make a direct approach.....He/she was still there when I left but was gone 5 minutes later....

Male greater prairie chickens (Tympanuchus cupido) of the grouse family (Phasianidae) vying for dominance in the mating lek in a managed prairie in south-central Illinois.

Once common on the Great Plains, the population of the greater prairie chicken has sharply declined due to the conversion of natural prairies to agricultural land. With the population still in decline, the species is considered vulnerable. Numerous initiatives are attempting to provide suitable habitat and stimulate population growth. The birds in this shot are from such an initiative in south-central Illinois.

Managed to snap an image of this classic American car in a local supermarket parking lot recently.

Didn't get a chance to identify it, seems to be a custom rebuild.

Any car buffs out there?

A Chevrolet perhaps?

Managed to get up in the mountains just before peak leaf turn this year. The aspens dance year round, but their colors in the fall are add to their performance.

This is my pano of this view from Old Winchester Hill.

I mentioned from my last upload that the pano program i have wouldn't play ball.

It appears that 8 files of about 30 MB was a bit to much for it to handle.

My brother Graham has managed to do the stitching for me,very impressive demo it was too.

His Lightroom Classic done it in about 5 mins, including uploading the files from a memory stick.

Many thanks Graham.

Looks like i may have to give in to the rental market of Lightroom.:-((

What's more,i have even got a Red Kite in the top right.

Managed to get a quick shot of this guy in our local park.

Edited with a large white matte frame.

Managed to find a place to take this pic above the street in a nearby park. This located in Arlington, VA. I was trying to hit the blue hour and get the LE light trails. Got some minor ghosting affects too in there.

Hello lovely people! (*^‿^*)

Raven and me wanted to take a dancing picture together since the first day we met hahaha ~ (not kidding). Finally we managed to do this and it was so much fun to shoot and to edit this picture. Today it's all about the Engine Room - a Steampunk inspired event that's open from the 20th of September till 20th of October. If you haven't seen it yet, please feel free to check it out - it's definitely worth it! I want to thank all the amazing creators for making this picture and the event possible.

Thank you for your stunning work - and of course a huge thank you to my lovely Raven for decorating the background with me, crafting this amazing hair and posing with me ♡

I hope you enjoy this picture and have a wonderful mid-week!

I managed to catch a shot of the huge flock of crested terns before they took flight. Once again, this was a very small section of the huge number that filled the entire beach overlooking Merri Island on Warrnambool's coast.

I finally managed to get a shot of the Langet Cave which leads out to Bow Fiddle Rock, near Portknockie, on the Moray Firth in Scotland. This is always a tricky shot due to a number of factors. The level of water has to be right, the waves have to be strong enough but not too big, there has to be enough ambient light to get into the cave but not too strong outside. Even when all of this works, you still have to exposure blend in order to get enough detail both inside and outside the cave. I really feel that I got the shot I have been hoping to get for some time.

I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good...

Managed out last weekend on a trip to Perthshire, Full Autumn colours are not there yet but was so nice finding new places, This was taken on the way back to my car where the sun was breaking through the forest to light up this ancient old oak tree in amongst the conifers.

Managed to get a close up of this when sitting on the homeowners front wall.

Although the lights were much stronger the previous night, when we unfortunately had some cloud cover, I managed to capure a glow of aurora borealis last night in rural Brandenburg. Amazing to see them so far South.

Notice the eagle nest in the upper center of the image. This is the nest occupied by the birds in many of my recent images of bald eagles.

This past week I have been attempting to photograph Great Blue Herons in flight. It has been much more difficult than I anticipated. Over four days I fired off some 900 frames the equivalent to 25 to 30 rolls of film. I would never have attempted this pre-digital as the cost would have been prohibitive. I enjoyed every moment, learned more about my camera and managed a few decent Heron images.

Managed to capture a seagull flying over the boat

Managed to get this shot of a Hobby over the Somerset levels; RSPB Ham Wall.

Tony & I thought we might go over to the second-hand record store in Saltash this morning, it's very good, and we decided to take our cameras and have a look at the foreshore there as we passed. We're glad we did as, on our approach, we could see that the estuary was shrouded in mist. By the time we actually got down to the river the mist was already lifting however we both managed to fire off a few before we lost it completely. This is the last I took before the mist thinned to nothing. Glorious!

I managed to get out before the Super Bowl yesterday for a little pre-game shooting. Here, a male Northern Harrier scans a field for rodents. Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in West Alton, Missouri

Managed to get this breach from an unusual perspective.

Managed to get this panning while standing under a tree. Weather was extreme.

I managed a bit of time out in the garden this afternoon, before it clouded over and got nippy.

Just enough time to catch one of our Collared Doves visiting.

Managed to get to this fantastic viewing spot at just the right time to capture the city skyline and, at the front, the Scotia Saddledome - home of the Calgary Flames NHL team.

after several attempts finally managed my first barn owl of the year

Managed to catch some sunlight on this patch of moss. There is even a mini rainbow!

This is uncropped and tweaked minimally in CS mainly lightened a little.

Highest position: 133 on Friday, March 6, 2009 - that makes it my 2nd highest to date

thanks friends and contacts for your interest, comments and favs all very much appreciated

We managed to get down in time, despite a dying set of strong thunderstorms covering from Darwin's rural right down to Mataranka... a developing cell just west of Batchelor threw down a few nice strikes. Had to skirt around felled large branches, twisted and smashed road signs between Noonamah and Acacia - evidence of a microburst there. From south of Adelaide River township, downpours pounded the area in the afternoon. 9 November 2015

Managed to grab a quick shot before if flitted off. never seem to stay still long. This little fella is exploring some an old fencepost . Lovely little birds can be quite confiding so when one strikes A pose for the camera I grab it !!

Thanks to everyone that takes the time and makes the effort to comment and fave my pics its very much appreciated

Managed to get this pano using my light travel tripod - certainly isn't as stable as my main one! From Rangiwahia Hut Lookout looking towards Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe. Morning sun just starting to kiss the hill tops...

I managed to make friend out of this little guy in just a few minutes. He would sit on a branch near me, and sing his little heart out. Then he would fly off and come back with flies, and leave them on that branch for me to eat. I guess he thought I wasn't getting enough to eat or something. He never left but only for a minute or two and then suddenly reappear with food for me. He would eat it himself until he was sure I didn't seem to want it. What a neat little guy.

What's really funny is his mate is sitting on another branch nearby, and at first he was doing his dead level best to force her to leave. But after about a half hour or so, he forgot all about her and concentrated on me, how strange is that? So cute...

Cy looked forward to the coming year. If he did well can caught the attention of recruits again this year, especially those that had encouraged him to go for Captain in the first place, he hoped his future prospects in Pro-Quidditch would only grow.

Managed to pop into RSPB Bempton Cliffs on way up North for a family event. First time I've been there and first time I've seen a Gannet - I was not disappointed such beautiful birds! HWW ;0)

Whilst hiding in the hedgerow yesterday morning looking out for hares, we noticed a Fallow Buck in the distance. We managed to creep closer along the hedgerow and then this beautiful stag appeared out of the woods. He stayed for a few seconds and then they disappeared back into the woods.
