On Tuesday, May 6th, the Educational Opportunity Programs hosted a reception to recognize the accomplishments of graduating EOP Seniors. This year, the program will be anticipating the graduation of more than 600 EOP students.
At the event students received a complimentary EOP Sash, a token of appreciation from the program to publicly acknowledge their hard work. Students also had the opportunity to reconnect with members of the EOP Community.
March marks the anniversary of the passing of beloved EOP Director, José Luis Vargas. Three years after his passing, he continues to be missed and remembered by the CSUN EOP community.

On behalf of our EOP community, we would like to congratulate EOP champion, Ramon Muniz on his retirement having served over 40 years of service at California State University, Northridge! Ramon tirelessly advocated for underrepresented students and his commitment to equity and access has made a significant impact on the lives of many. He has empowered countless students to achieve their dreams and his dedication has brought about positive changes within EOP and CSUN. We have all been inspired by his work and are grateful for his invaluable contributions. To Ramon…enjoy your retirement and know that your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
With the Vallies Stitch and Bitch Program at The Backpack, we have collectively knitted over one hundred blankets for AIDS orphans at Baphumelele Creche in Khayelitscha Township. We have old age homes contributing to this project with their fantastic knitting skills.
If you can knit plain, come along, relax in the lounge or bar at The Backpack, and knit a square or two! If you can't knit but would like to contribute to keeping the little ones snug, we gladly accept donations of wool.
