The little girl lives in a home that is substandard compared to other homes. Her home has no running water or indoor plumbing. Black, dirty coal heats the small, four room house. It is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. She sits and watches the thin curtains moving back and forth from the wind coming in the cracks of the house. But, for this little girl, she doesn't know how poor she really is. Her home may not be filled with heat or water, but it is filled with love.
She goes to bed in her cold bedroom, which she shares with other members of her family, and crawls under the weight of the many quilts that have been hand-made and placed on her bed to keep her warm. She does not fall asleep until her little body warms her cold mattress. Once warm, she falls asleep to dream about a better life, a better home, and awakens to know that one day she will make it. She will be someone who will make a difference in the lives of other people. She will work harder than everyone else to overcome. She has the grit. She will never stop until she reaches that dream and she will never forget. Never.
That home still stands today, although uninhabitable. The little girl only thinks about that home in her dreams. It's harder to remember everything about her home. The house is only a symbol, a memory, a beginning. The little girl has grown up now and looks back with fond memories, knowing that without that home and her dreams, she would not be who she is today.
Shelter from the Storm
Let me be your shelter from the storm Let me be your shelter from the storm
Rest here in my arms, I will keep you warm. Let me be your shelter from the storm.
Let me be your soft feather-bed,
Let me be your soft feather-bed,
Lay your cares on me, rest your weary head,
Let me be your soft feather bed.
BRIDGE: O if you ever need to come knocking on my door, to find a place that’s safe and warm. I'll make a place for you by my fireside. I will be your shelter from the storm
Let me be a sweet song for your soul, Let me be a sweet song for your soul
Carry me within your heart wherever you may go,
Let me be a sweet song for your soul.
Let me be a heart to keep you strong, Let me be a heart to keep you strong.
For every day and every night, for your whole life long.
Let me be a heart to keep you strong.
(repeat bridge and first verse.

This one is an original I wrote decades ago there are a few other more famous songs with this title (Bob Dylan) but this is a totally unique and heartwarming song.

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men and women who can dream of things that never were.....One person can make a difference and every person should try.

Listen. -- and cry. Beautiful song.
FIRST OFF: I realize I have been quite absent the whole summer. And although I have actually seen a lot of your photos lately I feel terrible for not taking the time to comment and talk to you. I am stuck in this weird state when I feel like I am super busy all the time, when in reality I haven't been doing that much. I just got back from Girls Camp and next week will be seeing relatives I don't often see. It actually will be getting busy with the beginning of my first high school year (I will be a sophomore) approaching. I hope you all haven't lost hope in me and moved on, because I still think all of you are amazing.
SECOND: My family went to this old mine ruin for family night. There was graffiti everywhere. I wouldn't say it was the vulgar type of graffiti. I read the most interesting things on those walls. I will be uploading more from the adventure in the next few days.
PS. If you have sent me a message and I haven't responded I will try to tonight or tomorrow.

The photograph captures a poignant moment of vulnerability. A homeless man, slumped against the seat of a public transportation bus in Oxnard, California, appears to be lost in a troubled sleep. His weary posture and the subtle tension in his features suggest a life marked by hardship and uncertainty. The scene evokes a sense of both sadness and a quiet desperation, highlighting the invisible struggles faced by many individuals living on the margins of society.

In general this is not my blog but so many people are made to feel powerless over the course of history when we really need to get off our butts and use the power we own in this democracy.
I wont tell you how to vote , its pretty easy to tell Im a Democrat but sometimes an independent too. I hope we see some real change but either way get up and VOTE. peace , love and blessings.
Our trash is becoming a big problem on our shorelines.
Marine debris is a huge problem on Okinawa and outer Islands. I often find an abundance of glass bulbs washed ashore.

I have the day off work today.... I'm sitting here editing some photos listening to my son, Josiah, in the other room - well I say listening but actually you can't help but hear him, he has some rather loud vocal tics at the moment.
It's constant.
He gets lots of headaches and gets a sore neck from his head flicking tics.
He asks me, "Mum, why was a born this way?" For which I have no real answer.
He has Tourette's Syndrome (TS). TS is neuorological brain disorder characterised by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalisations called tics. It is one of the most misunderstood disorders. Media sensationalism is largely to blame for this. Coprolalia (swearing and cursing) is present in only about 10% of sufferers.
Josiah's TS presents itself in many ways - sniffing, blinking, grunting, nose scrunching, squealing, eye rolling, screaming, head flicking, hand and arm flicking, flapping and waving, knuckle cracking, and some more complex series of movements... He is a great kid and I love him to bits.
