I helped Phil Shapiro with his booth at Maker Faire NoVa, which was held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia on March 18, 2018. Basically Phil was demonstrating #Inkscape , which is a #free #opensource alternative to #Adobe #Illustrator. He also had another computer with #TuxPaint , which is a #graphics program for children under 7.
The Portland Mini Maker Faire is presented by OMSI and Make: Magazine, and supported by ESCO. It celebrates the Maker movement and brings together Makers of all fields with the goal of supporting grassroots innovation in the community.
Museum of Contemporary Craft and PNCA had two activities at this year’s Mini Maker Faire. MoCC + PNCA’s Continuing Education department provided a hand’s on mask-making activity and participants learned what's coming up at the museum and saw what fun and making awaits them at the Museum or in a CE class.
PNCA’s make + think + code lab was on hand to provide a basic understanding of how 3D printing technology works. Utilizing 3Doodler pens, visitors made 3D printed objects by hand, enabling them to gain a new perspective into the blooming field of 3D Printing and fabrication. Photos by Sara Kaltwasser.

The good doctors gathered for another Saturday afternoon of art making at Pataphysical Studios.
Dr. Canard worked with Dr. Fabio to solder new wires for his Om Shanti box. Dr. Figurine showed off an El-Wire design for the pataphysical flag pole she is building with Dr. Rindbrain. Doctors Heatshrink, Really and Igor worked on bringing sound to more wonderboxes. Dr. Rindbrain showed off the new hat he is creating with Dr. Canard. Doctor Zboon made more pataphysical talismans.

During BJU’s Homecoming events on October 10-12, M&G hosts a curated market of handmade art, crafts, and designs created by BJU grads, current and former faculty/staff, and current and former students. The Makers come from around the country and feature a variety of items including handmade cards, pottery, illustrations, water color paintings, jewelry, fiber art, woodworking, calligraphy, gourmet popcorn and more!
