I love gluing-up little tiny wood things!
The barcodes are kind of a nice touch, too, IMO. They're there because I bought these 1/4" x 1/2" poplar sticks at the hardware store instead of milling them myself (which would have been kind of a pain). Clever of them to put the barcodes right on the wood so they don't have to put a sticker on there.

Got an used Sherman Filterbank some days before. While turning the potis a bad scratching destroyed all my fun, so i decided to look if i can prepare to avoid it. First problem were the extrem hard tightened screws at the back. One must be bored up. Next problem was that the main board is tightened at the top of the housing, and not at the bottom. Even some screws of the mainboard were tightened to hard, so i decided to let it in to avoid destroying by accidend with my screwdriver.
A big failure was to use cotton buds for cleaning. At the potis there's a lot of fat and little hairs of the cotton buds stayed there. So i had to remove at first my own dirt. Then i tried to clean the potis rotary as well as possible with my little finger, paper and a small dental brush. Absolute fucking work because the space is too small. At last i used some Sterilium with the small dental brush. The next step was to clean the potis arm at the outside of the housing and also the housing by itself.
Yeah, it works now and i hope it isn't only for a short time :)

Had to open it because of constant "This disc is unreadable" errors since the warranty had already expired. I opened the drive and cleaned/lubricated moving parts with WD-40 (After I ruled out problems with the magnetic parts). It seems to work more reliably now, but since you can copy DVDs to your HD with the NXE nowadays it's not in use most of the time.

At this point I have the mainboard, and the video card installed. It's at this moment it becomes clear that the Scythe CPU cooler is not going to fit.

single 1446 amp. It bolts under a radio... size is 4 inches by 5 inches wide and aprox 2 1/2 inches deep.
On the right side( middle) of this pic is the switchable low pass filter. Its a 3 stage with the cutoff at around 50mhz..
All circuits( except the led driver) are built on pc board, there are no components soldered together like spidewebs. All circuit boards are soldered to the main board . Pill strips are soldered to the mainboard as well. Every circuit except the led driver in the amp is soldered really well to the mainboard for strength. The LED driver circuit is attached to the heatsink and not the main board..
To the left of the low pass filter is the switchable bias circuit board. This board is securly soldered to the mainboard. Nothing fancy here..bias operates in class ab or can be switched out. There is also an indictor LED incorperated into this circuit to give a visual indication the circuit is working. This led can't be seen in this pic but is at the bottomn of the bias pc board.
Toward the rear of the amp just up and left of the bias and input transformer is the rx preamp. Again this is soldered solid to the board. Is just a basic rx pre amp.

Well, I am employeed at a home appliance company in a small town called Shunde locatedin southern China. My job is to export air conditioner and refrigerator to India.
The boss has a firm hand in financial and till the 8th year after millennium we are still using Windows 2000/NT with poor hardware intallations ( 17'' CRT Samsung screen, Intel (R) 82845PE mainboard, Intel(R) 1.70GHz CPU, 512mb ram, 40GB Hard disk, w/o dvd rom ) for business. ( There are 2 independent laptops in BA dept and for every meeting with incoming customers or business trip I have to go there to borrow one for business assistance ) when you look at the pictures you will know it.
If I am lucky enough to receive the HP, HDX , the biggest benefit to me is I can use this HDX laptop in my working space and replace the old machines.( Surely my boss will allow me to do so as he doesn't need to pay a single penny and have one set of pc extra for newcomer) I can use this HP HDX for business, even for my own business in the future.
For private usage: I am a movie freak and have collected around 300 dvds at home, yet I have extra money to upgrade the dvd player to Blu-ray disc player ( the player itself is very, very expensive in China) . If I am granted with this HP HDX I can save my money to buy blu-ray discs for good movies. The era of high definition screen has come and I don't wish to be left behind. :)
Also, I was once a 'pc expert' to my friends in the old time (The time when windows 98, windows millennium & xp were prevailing) , I helpped them to fix all kinds of pc problems in both software & hardware. However I was left behind as the vista edition, especially the Vista X64 version, has high requirement of hardware and I have no chance to experience the new edition . I am sure I will catch up with the computer technology development and have myself built up again - if I am lucky endough to get this HP.HDX.
