This is what's left after you've pressed and peeled the Press-N-Peel Blue circuit board transfer film. I always think it looks cool.

LK1,LK2,LK3 are optional links on the CPC mainboard, connected to PPI Port B, Bit1-3. The links select the distributor name (which is displayed by the BIOS in the boot message).

These LKs exist on all CPC mainboards. By default, LK1-LK3 are not installed (Amstrad). Other combinations are LK2 installed in german Schneider models, and LK1+LK2 in australian Awa models.

Langen's cat knocked over some water on her laptop. I offered to grab the data off of her hard drive for her (which I successfully did). Then I peered more closely at her motherboard to see if I could see what exactly the problem was.

While my Macbook is being serviced (keyboard repacement, and LCD inverter / LCD screen replacement ... love applecare), I thought that I would build myself a cheap PC to run adobe lightroom (yeah for cross platform compatability).

For the princly price of $601.00, I built myself the following system:

Gigabyte G31-ES2L motherboard ($97.00)

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 CPU ($200.00)

Kingston PC6400 DDR2 4GB Ram ($75.00)

Western Digital Caviar SE 80Gb SataII HDD ($72.00)

Antec NSK 1380 MicroATX case w/ 350w Power supply ($157.00)

I use an external DVD ROM drive because I'm too cheap to buy one to install the OS. I've still got to get a WIFI card for it, the spare ones I have don't work when the computer has more than 2GB RAM installed (don't ask...)

Took around 1 hr to build, and is running Windows7 ultimate beta. Never seen lightroom run so quick!
