The Ludus Magnus was the largest of the gladiatorial schools in Rome. It was built by the emperor Domitian (r. 81-96 C.E.) in the late first century C.E. The Ludus Magnus was essentially a gladiatorial arena where gladiators from across the Roman Empire would live, eat, and practice while undergoing gladiatorial training in preparation for fighting at the gladiatorial games held at the Colosseum. The Ludus Magnus was situated directly to the east of the Colosseum in order to provide gladiators with accessibility to their main fighting venue. A path with an entrance 2.17 m wide began underneath the amphitheater and reached the Ludus at its southwestern corner.

I blogged the look here:
20201119_7946_7D2-100 Magnus Magpie
I have been trying to get this wild but semi-tame Magpie used to the camera while I feed it. Today it was ok with me taking pics with a 100mm Macro lens!
It's partner won't come and get food and so far the one flying chick stays a long way away. Two years ago the two chicks were more used to me that the parents and would take food very gently from the palm of my hand.

with a little help from Topaz B&W effects!
I can see this is going to take a lot of learning for me... but seems to have so many interesting options! Thanks, Topaz!
