After gathering a few shots of the hoodoos and these hills, and considering the heat, it was time to get back to the car. The air conditioning would be most welcome after time in the 98 degrees. When I was moving up into the valley, I noticed two young gentlemen fallowing me. They quickly angled and traversed the mountain in this shot.
After returning to my car and loading my gear, I turned back and noticed one was at the top of the mountain. What an opportunity this was for a unique shot. I grabbed my camera, made adjustments, and fired off a number of shots. I then left my business card on their car and heard him call. Thinking I was stealing his car, he ran down the mountain path. Oh, to be young again. We met, I introduced myself and we discussed how I had captured Magnus and his friend at the top. We spoke for a time while he dripped with sweat then went about our separate journeys. At the peak is Magnus from Munich, on a Western Canada trip by car with his friend.
It's time to take a break from my own photos and celebrate the photo books I have from Flickr friends and photographers. These photos were all taken on a coffee table in my house in Brisbane in available light, so I can't vouch for their colour accuracy - one side is usually brighter than the other. Or the focusing, for that matter.
Magnus Åström's book, Northern Song, chronicles his return to the region of his youth. It's a beautiful book but a tight little number, so I weighted the pages with some river stones. www.flickr.com/photos/29596723@N00/

Magnus and I planned a visit to this small patch of lavender an hour from where we live. We studied the weather forecast that promised som mist during the early morning hours. the forecast changed several times the day before and the mist finally was gone. However we decided to go and hope for some mist anyway. That didn't materialise but it was overall a nice morning and we discoed some more interesting views just driving a few more kilometres. More of that will follow.
My collegue got married today and I had to show up tand sneak in some clicks. They were so obviously in love. A very beautiful and happy couple. :-) <3

St Magnus Cathedral known as the 'Light in the North' was founded in 1137 by the Viking, Earl Rognvald, in honour of his uncle St Magnus. Dominating the skyline of Kirkwall, it was added to over the next three hundred years to reach its present size and form.

I wanted to to burn and smash some guitars and photograph it. I asked a friend of mine, who is a guitar player if he wanted to do this is front of the camera.
We had three guitars to play around with, but never got into the smashing, they burnt up to fast. The burning part was cool enough.
