Number 1 in a series of 3, I - Magic II - Magic III
This is about growth, never giving up, positive thinking, encouraging people pushing you forward, the beginning of a new day and a bit of magic also.
You may recognize this wood from some of my late 365days images. It felt great to be back in this location.

It's a whole new world! Ok, maybe not...
Anyways, this was built for MocAthalon 2014 over on MOCpages.
The category was Pair Dare, in which you can only use two types of pieces (unlimited colors though). I chose to use 1x2 tiles and 1x1 clips.

I do not normally upload photos of my family, but I was in a local park yesterday with my Grandson who was riding his bike, when we stopped to play with a "bubble making" toy, and I love this photo of the joy of being young !
Back when Magic Buses were a little more interesting than the modern low-floors running today, we have 15194 (M694 TDB), a Dennis Dragon with AVA bodywork, a most unusual machine to find running in the UK. This was one of twenty which Stagecoach imported from Kenya when they were just two or three years old for use on the highly competitive Wilmslow Road services in the heart of university-land in south Manchester.
Took this handheld as we were leaving Disney's Magic Kingdom. I thought for sure we were going to get a shower, somehow we missed it. Made for a pleasant evening...much cooler!! Although it covered the full moon. Just a fraction showing.

Development and Construction:
The Tree of Life is a sculpted 14-story (145-foot tall), 50-foot wide tree. It is the centerpiece and icon in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park since it opened on April 22, 1998.
The Tree of Life was not the first choice of an icon for the park. Earlier concepts involved utilizing Noah's Ark as an icon. Another idea was to have a three-leveled carousel attraction featuring animals of land, sea and sky as a central icon, though this was seen as too whimsical.
When the idea of the Tree of Life was settled upon, engineers struggled on how to construct it to meet the demands of Florida's hurricane weather. A structure reminiscent of a geodesic dome for the canopy was one idea that was proposed. Eventually it was settled to utilize an oil rig as the base skeleton of the tree's trunk. It was capable of holding up the massive weight of the tree and its branches and it's wide base could hold a theater.
Incredible fact: The Tree of Life is topped with more than 103,000 translucent, five-shades-of-green leaves that were individually placed and they actually blow in the wind.

At magic mountain
Nobody sings today
Nobody speaks today
Close my eyes
And hope to see
Weeks go by like a day
In a lowland
I live up on magic mountain
No one leaves magic mountain
At magic mountain
Nothing changes
Everything stays the same
Cross my heart
And hope to live
All the time
With a little fever
I stay here on magic mountain
No one leaves magic…
My heart hears you sing
My heart hears you speak
But I never make it in the flatlands
I must stay on magic mountain

To achieve most of the things we want, we need to recover the magic of childhood, we need to recover the Wizard within us.
It finally came! I love it, and highly recommend it.
I haven't done a Photo of the Day in a while, and will continue back up as soon as I get more time.
The blue gets you started and the red gets it going!!
Beware of the red one...and never mix the two directly with one another!

Just a classic shot of the Liberty River Boat. What I like about this shot is the clouds and touch of color in the tree. Please view in fullscreen. Thanks for looking.

Magic Lion
This here lion
Is magic indeed
His roar is special
And he likes to feed
On zebras and beef
And goats and sheep
But the village people
Call him a thief
Whenever he roars
People run away
The roar is magical
That's what the people say
It's said he runs like a leopard
And flies like a bird
Swims like a gator
With colours absurd
He is as strong as a rhino
Has vision like an eagle
As cunning as a fox
And teeth so lethal
Magic Lion rules supreme
King of the jungle
Ruler of the pride
And he likes to rumble
See you next time

I was born to the magic. We all were, though some realize it more often than others. When I walk past the homes of our neighborhood, I see the flicker of television static, hear the sound of music and petty arguments, while all along outside, the moon is white and the skies are wide, and I'm feeling my most alive.
While I walk, it's rare to pass another adventurer. Sometimes, it's a four-wheeler on the old railbed, or a smoker seeking fresh air, unaware of the inherent irony. I wave when I spot a stranger, wonder if they recognize me, and keep moving. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a stranger myself. I might be, though I've been here for my version of forever. 1987, I was born in Soldier's Memorial Hospital in Middleton, and they carried me home soon after to Bridgetown, where I've lived ever since. These days, I carry myself down silent streets on moonswept nights, reminding myself that home is where the stars are.
It doesn't take much to settle my soul, just an empty sky and the flickering shine of distant suns will do it for me. I can belong anywhere that isn't crowded down with light pollution. I need to open my eyes wide and let in every ounce of brightness the darkness can offer.
When I was young, my grandfather used to drive me in his truck across this bridge, thump-thumping on the railroad ties as I looked over nervously to the river below. Now he's gone, and I'm less nervous, still walking around and trying to capture my desperate little bits of adventure. My grandfather loved Bridgetown as much as I do. That's why he settled here, built a house on the hillside, looking down on the valley. Standing 6'4" and with an overdeveloped sense of self, that was one of his strong points (looking down on things). I inherited all his best and worst qualities, and that keeps me humble when I think too highly of me.
Bob Skafte is gone – gone like the railroad, gone like my childhood. But that wild, vibrant joy is still full in heart, still wild in the margins of his town and mine. It tells me to open up, share strange thoughts, be passionate, put it all on the line in this brokedown town. There's a wealth of mystic magic for those that stick around...
