The little spider guy crawled out from this flower...unexpected. I love his transparent white color on the vibrant yellow leaf. But...I missed that little red string on the leaf...disappointing.
I rarely use Photoshop other than to adjust exposure in the RAW editor so going in and erasing the tiny string kind of went against my macro process. Maybe I will clone it out later. But, the little critter steals the show anyway.
Don't worry. The little guy was placed outside in a small meadow of flowers after his photo shoot...no worse for wear.
thinking this is of the genus jalysus and likely j. wickhami based on the geographic range, though bugguide says the only way to tell the male wickhami apart from the j. spinosus is by the shape of the genitalia, which falls beyond the extent of my amateur interests...

...pausing for a moment on an echinacea petal
maybe i can try focus stacking should i upgrade my kit or find more patience & ideal conditions, but for now, for macro, i pretty much adhere to an "all handheld, up close, manual focus, deal with the situation as it presents itself, and, above all, enjoy-the-moment" ethos of photography
i might argue that we don’t naturally see the world around us in tack-sharp definition anyway - i sure don’t, not with these eyes - and therefore focus-stacking doesn’t result in a true representation of our natural world - but i prefer to avoid arguments and just observe, learn & appreciate…
