When returning from my car and a brief visit to the Rootes club meeting in Utrecht I ran into a convoy of Dutch Mack & FTF club members. They stopped at Hilversum Aerodrome and there I was able to shoot all of these pictures. Most of the trucks present were assembled during the 50ies & 60ies in Hilversum, just up the road.

This is a pukka fire engine. Large, American and powerful, no messing about!
The model is one of the most detailed I have and I came by it through the fire engine collection my late father kept . After his national service my father volunteered for the local fire brigade as he wanted to miss out on the many cold war army maneuvres he had to attend. Becoming a part time fireman turned out to be a life long pashion. We had several red cars. He started as a jack of all trades and after training became a qualified pump driver / rescue worker. After active service he ended his fireservice as the paymaster on the board of the local regional firebrigade.

Jerry Ayers, the owner of Industrial Truck and Equipment Sales, buys and sells mostly Mack trucks to support his hobby of collecting old trucks. And every once in a while he has his show trucks standing by on the lot, ready for the next show.
Used the macro setting for this one.

The Mack B Series was a heavy truck built by Mack Trucks between 1953 and 1966. The B Series was built so good that it nearly bankrupted to company. The expression "Built like a Mack Truck" reflects the extreme quality of the B Series.
This is a beautiful 1960 B-61 Series dump truck that is for sale on Allegheny River Blvd. in Verona, Pennsylvania.
