There are many, many builders that inspire me, but I don't think there's anyone that inspires me to build more than Evan. It's not the first, nor last time I'll follow in his footsteps.

Cheers Evan!

(And Nick too!)

Retired Western Mack cab over found on FB.

I'm pretty sure this is a Mack from the very late 40's or early 50's.

Would appreciate any information or thoughts? **(see Willem's & Ray's comments below)**

Over 800 trucks, primarily "over the road" semi-tractors on display. Quite impressive show (if you like trucks). More pictures to follow (I hope).

Picture of the entire truck - flic.kr/p/2nAkJrg

We usually stop before we get onto the Great Western Highway to have a quick drink and stretch before we continue on. This was taken at the end of Jenolan Caves road.

At a Marulan southbound truckstop.

This was taken a couple months ago on a warm summer afternoon. Mack was napping on my lap and I tried to lean way back to take a picture with my phone. I still haven't quite figured out how to do that. You might have noticed The Dog photobombing this picture.

I've disabled the comments because I just wanted to pop in and say Hi. I'll catch up soon.

I guess you could call this FAN ART ;)

Mack R series looking pretty shmick with a bit of bling, looks good with the yellow/white cab on the brown chassis

You can see that I was looking at funny cat pictures on the Internet when Mack decided he needed a little attention. When wearing a calming collar his meow turns into a chirp which is much more charming and sounds less demanding.

Really nicely presented single drive R series Mack.

At a construction site.

Excellent diecast of New Hampton's B series Mack. This custom made piece was done by Joe Schulte of www.diecastanddecals.com. Highly recommended for custom made decals as this piece came out great.

B&W shot by Stan Holtzman. Motion picture related.

Met Mack outside Finsbury park tube.

I'd been asked by a friend who was doing an article 20 hints on Street Photography for a magazine. The idea was I ask a stranger for a photo then he would photograph me taking the photo. Also I had to write a short piece about how to approach a stranger and ask to take their picture .

Anyhow Mack was a really great model and I hope they choose him as he was my favourite of the four people I shot.

Here's what I wrote for the article .

I've always been fascinated by people watching , which is one of the reasons I was drawn to street photography in the first place .

After a while of shooting people who were unaware I wanted to try getting in closer and capturing those people point blank so I could see every detail of their face and in particular their eyes and expressions.

Recalling the first time that I went up to a stranger on the street to ask them I was so nervous, he was a guy waiting outside the airport and he had the most fantastic beard. I went up to him and explained that I was doing a photo project about beards (not true) and would it be ok for me to take his picture, surprisingly he said "sure why not" and was happy to let me go ahead. I still use a similar type approach telling the subject I'm doing some type of photo project or even more simply just tell them that I am a street photographer and that I make street portraits perhaps even let them know why I picked them .

Its good to do it with confidence and it gets easier every time you ask somebody and just remember the worst thing that could happen is they say no . Once you've found someone thats agreed remember to take your time and look for the best backdrop and light available , the more rapport you can get with your subject the easier its going to be to direct them so it's always good to keep a bit of conversation going while your making the picture. If you have a card you can offer it so they can email you for the picture or keep a notepad as you can ask for their email or on a couple of occasions I've sent the person a print of the photo, it's always nice to give something back .

Nice old R-model V8 in MI in the 70's. I think a Neil Sherff photo.

Silent film comedy director Mack Sennett is buried at Westwood Cemetery in Westwood Village, Los Angeles, California.

Left side view of the truck I posted earlier. Neil Sherff did indeed take these photos. I reprinted this from his negative many years ago.
