This is a late 1800s "Improved Eldridge Rotary" treadle sewing machine. Unfortunately, it was electrified at some point. I haven't tried it but was in use until about 15 years ago.

Found a handful of these at our local Fry's Food and Drug store yesterday. Never even heard of these before. At a cost of $1.29 but on sale for $.90, I couldn't help but grab a few.
Not licensed by any car manufacturer, probably to keep the costs down.
Well, why not shoot objects from time to time--it is fun, to try to make them look good!
These photos were shot at our University (www.h-ab.de) at the lab of Prof. Volpe, for a publication about PCB prototyping.

STROBIST
Two speedlites, manually adjusted, one on the left side shooting through a diffusor, on on the right side, with a blue gel, shooting against a silver reflector (actually: it was the cover of the diffusor, taped to the wall). The speedlites were triggered via YN-602 RF transmitters. Still my favorite work horses. :-)

PHOTOSHOP
Not that much, the usual cloning and stuff.
For the right one I stacked two shots to get the drill and also the logo sharp.
Why not close the aperture for that purpose?
Because that would need too much flash power and furthermore the lens would be not that sharp anymore (not on the "critical aperture" setting).
Why not zoom out?
Yes, that would give me the DOF I wanted, but the perspective would change (cropping would have been ok, there's plenty of resolution left). I tried that and I did not like the wide-angle perspective.
So I just did two shots with varied focus and aligned these in Photoshop (btw.: Photoshop did a good job regarding the aligment and a bad job regarding the merging, so I did the merging my hand).

The glass ball holding the "bubble gum balls" is approximately 3/4 inch in width and height. The hand is that of a Dawn doll, much smaller than a Barbie if you are unfamiliar with her.
The four photos show different distance ratios of my macro lens.
I'm downloaded daily. I am part of a composite. I'm upgraded daily, All my wires without traces. I'm hooked into machine. We live in the future. The future. It's here, It's bright, It's Now. We're being hooked into machines.

First sketches and models for the Time Machine, a new interactive art project created by Pataphysical Studios.
In this brainstorm session, each team member sketched out their own ideas, then discussed them with the group, to design our upcoming time travel experience together.
Next, we plan to create a composite design with some of these ideas, to integrate them into a single blueprint.

Another machine gun! Unlike some versions, I have made this one man-usable, and possibly (depending on the strength of the man). ;)
This one i sort of like, although it's not very tight (the pins that holds the gun to the tripod), so the gun would point down due to gravity if the ammo chain weren't keeping it steady. This is due to me having the body of the gun backwards. If I had done it the other way, I'm sure i would have been fine.
Anyway, let me know what you think! I'll be posting "different" and "random" photos from here on out, or just things that I have worked on and decided to post. I also have a fun project that will probably be up this weekend! :)

Our son was born with a coarctation of his aorta, which required surgery when he was 13 days old. It was a sudden thing for us. Jen was taking him to his first doctor's well-visit, and less than 24 hours later he was in the operating room, having the narrow part of his aorta snipped out, and the loose ends reconnected. Now he's two-and-a-half years old and aside from the one-inch scar on his back, there's no way anyone would know that there was ever anything wrong with him.
This photo was taken the night before his surgery, hooked up to the respirator, various monitors, and other assorted machines.

I watched as this rainbow grew from a spec to a full bow within 10 minutes. I was going to head out tonight for a sunset, but stayed home and snapped many pics of this beauty from my back yard.
