Bone Machine was a fixed gear criterion bicycle race in an industrial area of north Portland.
Competitors raced on a closed course on bicycles with no brakes and no ability to coast -- track bikes.
The races were part of a weekend of events, including bike polo, Goldsprints and a Chrome-sponsored alleycat.

while I started getting into this. I realized the solid state relay I was going to use for the emergency cut off switch, was not working properly. I had originally planned to use this small 12V transformer as the control lead for the rely, but it seemed like the rely was bad and I was not in the mood to pay for a new one.
Pretty twill pouch with a Hungarian / Eastern European embroidery design.

This past week we went to the USF SunDome to see Florence + the Machine and to say the least, SHE WAS AMAZING! *Disclaimer: We were not hired by her booking or management to take photos. We went as spectators.

Various machines on a farm that is slowly being cleared of all these old machines.
f5.6, 5 minutes, natural flashlight, red gelled flash popped once underneath steering wheel to create the shadow on the filthy windscreen. The image isn't pixelated, that's how the light picked out the dirt on the windscreen. No photoshop, straight from camera.

The apparatus consists of a small wooden chest, with a pair of bellows, or "lungs," inside, and a rubber funnel, or “the mouth.” When one moved the bellows with ones elbow, air was pumped into the "wind box" (a term used in organ building), and this volume of air was than released through valves operated by keys. The operator would put both hands through the outer shell, which was to protect the apparatus from dust. Moving the lever of the wind box and the valves with one's right hand, one held in one's left hand the soft funnel, which gave out the "voice."
with the motor side of things taken care of, the carriage is moved to the headstock end of the lathe and alignment for the end bearing support is started.
