This is a treadle sewing machine that I rescued for a friend. It has some damage to the bottom of the center compartment, but the rest of it is in beautiful condition. It has a built in walking foot instead of feed dogs, so it would make an ideal machine for quilting or working with heavy, tricksy materials like velvet.

I probably could have measured this all out in advance. But I have found for me, the most timely and low hassle way to eliminate costly mistakes is to fit each piece to one another, one at a time. Or at least that's my thinking for building prototypes anyway. If I had to make fifty of these, it would be easier to standardize things.
