Our friends Geo Monley and Brandon Onstott are making a porthole for the Time Machine we’re creating at Pataphysical Studios, with a world-class team of of artists, makers, engineers and multimedia innovators. This interactive art exhibit will invite you to travel through time and meet characters from the past, present and future.
Geo and Brandon are building this porthole at Tam Makers, our community makerspace, where they can use a wider range of tools, from Autocad 360 to laser cutter or CNC rounter. The design is similar to the iris used in cameras, which let you open and close a circular very elegantly.
Our guests will be invited to open these portholes as part of their time travel experience, to interact with characters and articfacts from different times.
It’s great to see different teams come together to design and build the various parts of our Time Machine. That’s what collective art projects are all about!

Vending machines serve both hot and cold beverages. For instance, this is corn soup you can buy it warm right from the machine.
Soda machines in Japan display models of the wares they contain. Zoom in and you can see examples of the little steel bottles some drinks are served in.

An amazing note I received on a machine today. I guess people write these things because the people who take care of the machines are faceless. This is probably the first time this machine has been without donuts in a long while. (its just not a donut machine) In fact it was the only thing that machine was missing today when I arrived.
Fabric sample strip together with pieces of an old skort. I'm especially fond of the reuse of the hem.
The machine area of my workshop. The Sealy linisher is the best used tool and comes from the old Atom workshop in Ancoats. Still runs superbly although I did have to oil its bearings a couple of years ago. reminds me of the old Firestation every time I use it.
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The old Katy railroad wound its way thru downtown Tulsa between building after building. The right side of the building in this photo was where it went thru at this particular location.

Really useful to have a cash machine in the shopping centre that doesn't charge fees for withdrawing money.

These machines are very useful these days. This particular snow removal machine was on top of the Chicago O'hare airport parking structure (7th or 8th floor). How did they get it up there....maybe it sits all year.
In any event, I liked the light in this shot.
next I set abut a basic layout for the control cabinet. I decided on the best locations for all of my components and then marked off where I would need to cut the various openings to mount of those components.

Some sort of antique machine. I think it might be for slicing tissue for making slides.
