In the late 1910s, with the deteriorating wooden Collins Bridge (now, the Venetian Causeway) as the only direct land route between mainland Miami and the barrier islands of Miami Beach, construction on the roadway began in 1917. The roadway, dedicated as the County Causeway, was completed in 1920. Watson Island was reclaimed surrounding the western end of the roadway, completed in 1926.
Having undergone several lane and structural expansions following opening of the original two-lane road, the Florida State Road Board and Dade County Commission voted to rename the causeway in honor of World War II General Douglas MacArthur in 1942.[2] Accessible from mainland Miami via Biscayne Boulevard and intersecting side streets through the 1990s, direct highway access was added to I-395 in 1997.

the spheres in MacArthur park. they're there to bring attention to the city and the people living around there that this park isn't a lost cause. this is a park worth saving. it has potential. it was always meant for more than it is. many homeless people currently reside here I don't have anything against them but it does make it feel unwelcoming to my son and I. hopefully this project by portraits of hope brings the change this park needs
From the DR. H.O. Lethbridge Collection at the Narrandera Sturt Parkside Cottage Museum . The cloak was one of a number made for John Macarthur in London from wool from what is believed to be the 1816 shearing of his flock. Macarthur sent the wool to England with his son John Macarthur Jnr to be mae in to cloth which would be presented as gifts in an effort to raise interest in the Colony's wool. John Jnr felt that interest would be stronger if the gift was a garment rather than just cloth and had a number of cloaks made from the fabric.
The cloak was rescued by members of the Museum committee from the floor of the local grandstand where it had been tramped into the mud by half a generation of football boots. Grant funding was obtained for repairs and conservation and this very significant piece of Australia's history is now on display at the museum.

Snow at the old Little Rock Arsenal Building, which was built in 1840 and is one of the oldest buildings in the city. This was taken after two back-to-back storms dumped about 15 inches of snow on the city.
