I introduced you to the amazing "rags to riches" story of Mystic Journey in the first photograph posted today. She is currently Tasmania's premier racehorse. So there was a great level of expectation in the air as she and jockey Luke Currie prepared to race at Mowbray. Tomorrow I'll show you the result of this race as we bring the series to a close. It was very close.
For now though I leave you to enjoy Luke's wonderful smile (and after all he's been through that says a great deal about the person). And we get a final look from the star of the show herself, Mystic Journey.

Built in 1967 and rebuilt in 1993, the Mystic Whaler carries passengers and trainees on a variety of cruises, ranging from 3 hours to 5 days. In April, May, and early June, the schooner joins Clearwater on the Hudson River, for environmental education programs. Sailing from New London, CT throughout the summer months, the Mystic Whaler offers great sailing opportunities for both novice and experienced passengers. Three-hour Lobster Dinner Cruises are popular as are the 5-hour Day sails, or try an overnight of 2, 3 or 5 days. In September and October, the Mystic Whaler travels to Baltimore Maryland for three weeks of 3-day overnight sails and to participate in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race.

Several hot springs near and above the waterfall warm the water. At one time, tourists went swimming at the base of the falls but erosion and the difficulty of getting to the base has caused the park service to discourage this activity.

I had a Lexus LS400 to pick up around 10 am last Monday, so I took advantage of being in Boston and went out early on the sunny day to photograph some transit. Here a morning commuter bound for Gloucester is seen rising up the dramatic graded bridge over the Mystic River on their way for Chelsea station north of here. This spot used to be lined with factories and the river ran yellow from chemicals, leaving those who dared climb over the fences and swim in it with chemical burns and tinted skin. Nowadays, it's clean and nice to walk around, although I would have enjoyed seeing the industrial misery as well.
Southern Alps, New Zealand.
The Southern Alps (Māori: Kā Tiritiri o te Moana) are a mountain range extending along much of the length of New Zealand's South Island, reaching its greatest elevations near the island's western side.
The range runs 500 km north to south. The tallest peak is Aoraki / Mount Cook, the highest point in New Zealand at 3,724 metres (12,218 ft) and there are sixteen other points that exceed 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) in height. The mountains are cut through with glacial valleys and lakes.
The Southern Alps lie along a geological plate boundary, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, with the Pacific Plate to the southeast pushing westward and colliding with the northward-moving Indo-Australian Plate to the northwest.
