...and how many eyes are shining? A multitude of animal people, intimately related to us, but of whose lives we know almost nothing, are as busy about their own affairs as we are about ours. " --John Muir

So! It pays to think like a critter!

Yesterday I was sitting back in the woods. There is a huge tree about 100 yards or so into the tree line at the back of my property...it's a good 40 ft. tall...maybe more.

I sat there studying it. It has several large cavities in the massive trunk.

I thought to myself, "If I were a critter, this would be a great tree to make a home in."

As my eyes traveled on up the trunk toward the top, I suddenly spied a little masked face peering down at me.

NO WAY!!!

LOL....I immediately thought of this quote from Carl Spangler (Caddyshack): "My enemy, my foe, is an animal.

In order to conquer the animal.

I have to learn to think like an animal. And whenever possible, to look like one. I've gotta get inside this guy's pelt and crawl around for a few days!"

The other quote that came to mind were the immortal words of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz... "If I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I wont look any further than my own backyard."

I had been moping around the house, and lamenting the fact I hadn't been able to get to any of my favorite wildlife haunts....Peace Valley, the Pennypack Trust, Churchville........

I realized I have no reason to whine! Look at what I see right on my own property! All I have to do is get up off the couch, grab my camera and walk out the door!

I think it's a whole family of raccoons. I know there were at least 3 of them up there. I saw these two youngsters, and another tail sticking out of a different crevice.

Yeah, yeah.....I know I SAID that I preferred that the raccoons didn't hang around because they can become a bit pesky, and make a real mess with my trash....BUT the wildlife photographer in me hopes they'll stick around a give me more photo ops like this one!

Was out shooting the milky way when I got a nice surprise in auroras and meteorites / fireballs entering the atmoshphere! After days capturing insanly red auroras the game was over, or so we thought. Living up here makes it easy to be surprised with auroras even when forecasts are low.

To accompany the milky way this night I had a multi-colored aurora, a strong star, and a pretty massive shooting star.

I consider myself really lucky to have captured these multiple celestial objects in one single exposure.

Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand is an amazing place. The park comprises the largest area of virgin forest in Southern Thailand and is a remnant of rainforest which is older and more diverse than the Amazon Rainforest. It is covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world, huge limestone mountains shooting straight up in the air, deep valleys, breathtaking lakes, exciting caves and much more. Home to wild Elephants, Hornbills, the rare Asian Ox, various monkey and ape species, a myriad reptiles, amphibians and floral species, Khao Sok including the Cheow Larn lake is one of the most unique and important rainforest habitats in South East Asia. It is estimated to contain over 5% of the worlds species. Additionally the Park is traversed by a limestone mountain range from north to south with the highest point of 950m. This mountain range is hit by monsoon rain coming from both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, which makes it Thailand’s wettest region with an annual rain fall of 3500mm. Heavy rainfall and falling leaves led to the erosion of the limestone rocks and created the significant karst formation of today. The park offers a multitude of well-worn dirt trails to explore. Rainy season begins in late April and lasts until December, with the heaviest rains between May and July, then October and November. But don’t let that stop you! The rain is often a welcome respite to the tropical heat. Not to mention the fact that … it is the RAINforest!,

A lot of visitors come to Khao Sok just to marvel the beauty of the nature but you can also enjoy your time taking part experiencing the tropical rainforest on foot. Different trekkings are possible. We're hiking to the Coral cave, The jungle trail ends here at the next lake called: Ha Roi Rai. From here we'll take another adventure with bamboo rafting towards the cave. The Coral cave, is one of the worlds hidden gems. Inside the cave you will be excited with stalagmite, stalactite, darkness, monster spiders, dripping water, sparky things and the noise of bats. It might be a good idea to bring your own torch as it is very dark inside.

When you leave the cave, there is a track to watch the beautiful scenery of the lake. Taking the bamboo rafting adventure during rainy season will let you see more other wildlife such as wild hog, bison, schomburgk’s deer, etc. As they will live in deep forest during dry season. Rare flora are found along nature trails particularly to the south of the park where local plants such as lianas, bamboo, ferns and giant rattan can be found. A place where the rhythm of jungle takes you higher. Gibbons sing their morning song, a glimpse of wildlife. Also the Dusky Leaf Monkeys can be found in Khao Sok National Park. The Dusky Langurs are often seen on treetops on early mornings or late afternoons feasting on fresh leaves and fruit. Best place in Khao Sok to see them is Cheow Larn Lake.

The multitude of mallards at Shakopee Memorial Park included a lone hooded merganser drake. Zoom in to see how different his bill is: shorter, hooked and serrated for catching fish and other prey. Mergansers are diving ducks, while mallards are "dabbling" ducks. Hoodies are one of my favorites; the male's ability to inflate and deflate his "hood" can be quite comical! No lady hoodie was nearby in this case. My nickname for these is "ba-was", which would make sense to you if you've ever seen and heard hoodie drakes displaying for the ladies!

Photo session in Girona (Spain). The challenging part here was to get the model in focus while everyone else was passing by and that they didn't become distracting elements of the main picture. The subject was nicely sharp and using the 85mm F1.8 I was able to blow out everything else giving a nice contrast. Handheld, natural light.

Thank you all for your appreciation.

Folaldafoss is the lowermost of a multitude of significant waterfalls along the Berufjarðará, which runs along Route 939 as it climbs over Oxi Pass as a shortcut of sorts between two sections of Highway 1 in the East Fjords. The falls occur as the stream is squeezed through a narrow gap in one of the literally dozens of distinct cliff bands which run across the valley, causing the stream which otherwise flows southeast to bend suddenly almost due north. As the stream is redirected it funnels through a narrow gap and plunges a sheer 54-feet into a small bowl with an attractive pool at its base. Below the pool is a small cascading fall of another 5-feet, after which the stream bends back to the southwest and resumes its course to the head of the Berufjörður.

This autumn my goldenrod blossoms are humming again with a multitude of fascinating pollinators like bees, beetles, & butterflies

Bumblebee – 2020OCT04 – Charlotte, NC

Bumblebees, generally quite gentle and docile, are found all over the world; a group of bumblebees, called a colony, can contain 50 to 500 individuals – being larger than honey bees and generating more heat allows them to work during cooler weather.

North America has 1 species of honey bee but about 40 species of bumblebee, big fuzzy buzzy insects with stubby wings, some of the most social creatures in the animal kingdom ...though larger than honeybees, bumblebees don't produce as much honey; however, without these very important pollinators, a lot of food wouldn't grow.

Two-thirds of the world's crop species depend on animals to transfer pollen. Many animals are pollinators – including birds, bats, and butterflies – but bees are the most important in most ecosystems: while other animals pollinate, bumblebees are particularly good at it. Their wings beat 130 times per second, and the beating combined with their large bodies vibrates flowers until they release pollen, called buzz pollination, and that helps plants produce more fruit.

Hope you enjoy these bumblebee captures I took this day!

The multitude of greyish-brown branches in the foreground and the cut-off catenary poles (which cannot really be avoided here) invited me to a little artistic Photoshop flourish for this one, as 44 202 hauls its two-coach local train Varna-Karnobat through the cutting at Strashimirovo, 20-03-2022.

It is imperative that we implement a system of ecolonomic homeostasis to fight against the current anthropotechnogenic economic, social and environmental crises. Recent global economic and political instability has revealed the shortcomings of our current capitalist system. It further confirms the necessity for an ultramodern paradigm shift. On account of the deleterious impact of the financialization of the economic ecosystem, we must introduce an oligopolistic system that can be sustainably managed. The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) is what is needed to fulfill our sustainable development goals. Environmental awareness must be the center of our ethos as we work to reduce our anthroposphere periphery in pursuit of global co-immunity. Not only must we manipulate living organisms through science and engineering to create commodities, we must also manipulate the Anthropos through cryptoeconomic engineering.

This new cryptospheric ecotechnic cybernetic system will revolve around a cyber-physical environmental intelligence. This transhuman technosphere of 15 minute city ecoregions will adopt a sustainable economic welfare system that will revolve around harvesting the body’s energy. You will be a collective of communities, a multitude of capital. We will combine biomimetics and thermoeconomics to economically rebalance the core-periphery dynamic. Xenocommodification: all money creation must have biophysical embedding—666. This thermalisation of thermoeconomics will be globally self-replicated.

In short: take the Mark of the Beast and become transhuman—embrace the techno-Beast system, because techno-animism is the way of the future!

These nerds want an economic system that revolves around the environment—a Social Credit Score System that will be linked to your Carbon Footprint and to the United Nations 17 goals of Sustainable Development. The ultimate goal is to tie this eco-economic system together with transhumanism—the merging of man and microchip…data capitalism (data totalitarianism).

Warning: “Constantly be on your guard so that your hearts will not be loaded down with self-indulgence, drunkenness, and the worries of this life, or that day will take you by surprise like a trap, because it will come on everyone who lives on the face of the earth. So be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to take your stand in the presence of the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)

This is my very first visit to the Beaudet Reservoir in Victoriaville to admire the multitude of snow geese stopping over during their migratory voyage. Very surprised to find this juvenile loon happily fishing among a great number of geese and probably enjoying the protection of their non-competitive company .

This will be the opening shot of a series on one day at the reservoir and its elusive population of snow geese focusing on their plumage differences but first a shot of what turns out to be a Lifer for me, a juvenile loon with a nice catch.

There are many bridges in the city center that span the canals and connect the neighborhoods to each other, but Jarosław Kozakiewicz's BRUG ("bridge") is a contemporary interpretation with a different function. The artist here replaces the bricks and pavers with metal profiles and veils to create a bridge to reach two banks. This does not mean that you can continue your journey. The bridge will take you closer to the Constant Permeke Niobe sculpture, to a point where you can stop briefly before setting out again by borrowing the same path. The installation is a meeting place, a proposal to meet the other, or even - who knows? - start a conversation. The formal structure of construction is based on a proportional system where each intersection of two lines refers to a point on a human face. Every angle, every link is the snapshot of a movement - that of two faces that are getting closer. BRUG is a geometrical metaphor for both a mutual encounter of two human beings and a meeting between the future and the past. Relationships between people and their deep meaning are the starting point for the artistic experience in which Kozakiewicz has been engaged for some years. The project is based on the search for new sculptural and para-architectural forms through the manipulation of a module created by joining the orifices of the human head. Body openings are a metaphor for "the inner life", they represent the entry into the world of personal experience. Borders / passages are both first and last moments of mutual encounters.

Another meaningful and spectacular photo from this wonderful collection. It’s obvious why I titled this photo, Autumn View. The bench gives this depth and positioning whilst the multitude of orange leaved trees portray a great array of autumn colour. This is a very autumnal photo and an excellent addition to my Autumn Splendour collection.

Apparently, in my last photo, I looked sad / lonely / scared / et al. I do appreciate the concern and sincerely apologize if my retort came off as rude (it wasn't intended as such, as I imagine your comments were those of concern - not criticism). I am 'alone' on my vacation, but I have always sought solitude and time away from people so I can occasionally clear my head and heart. You may have seen feelings in my eyes and/or demeanor that I'm in denial or unaware of. I'm in a transitional moment -- finding a new home, new job (hopefully), new lots of things. I also am also deeply saddened by my father's condition and the rapid degeneration of his mind and life. I feel this every second, every minute, every hour, every day. I cannot run away from it and have stopped trying to. I love my father as much as anything in the world, so I feel incredibly guilty and angry at my own fear to spend time with him. I do see him and help him often. And it hurts. And I carry this burden daily and it clearly shines through, despite my best attempts to conceal it. I care about you all very much and know that the feelings are mutual. So, contrary to my short-lived comment in earlier response to you, I thank you for your attentiveness and concern, and am happy that you picked something out that I ought not to deny the existence of.

The castle of Meillant consists of a multitude of rooms all furnished in an exceptional way. Design, decoration and furniture reflect the art of living and the permanent search for aestheticism desired by the successive owners of the castle.

You'll notice in particular the dining room, covered in leather from Cordoe, a particularity unique to France: this huge reception hall has a huge chimney with the top designed as a musician's lodge.

You'll also visit the room of justice. The lords of Meillant had the right to pass judgment on their land.

Next, you will be guided toward the room of honor, then the guard room where you will find diverse weapons and sculptured stags carrying the weapons of renowned visitors who had stayed at Meillant.

Finally, a walk by the kitchen and its gleaming copper pans will have you imagining yourself at the table with the lords of the place, invited to the gastronomical pleasures of the time.
