A view of White Wing Mountain (altitude 10009 ft / 3051 m) from the top of Obsidian Dome. The dead tree trunks scattered at the top of the mountain helped date the volcanic eruption that created Obsidian Dome to 1350 CE.
Hope you have a good day whenever you see this. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

The mountain gorilla is the largest of the primates, with an average weight of 140-180 kg for males and 100-130 kg for females. They have a characteristic stripe of thick, dense black hair on the head, neck and torso, where it is longest and looks like a coat or spots that can be silvery.

If you read my previous post you’ll know that I passed on shooting the beach huts at Llanbedrog, as the conditions didn’t look that favourable for a sunrise. Instead I walked further down the beach towards Pwllheli having spotted the trees above the beach on the left of this shot, which I thought might offer a decent reflection shot in the various pools of water.
Eventually as the sun popped above the distant mountains, the sky lit up presenting a cracking sunrise. Amongst the shots I took was this 10 shot panorama, which, even though I was as as low as I could get, I still couldn’t get a decent reflection of the trees, without sacrificing other elements of the shot, such as the cormorants perched on the shingle piles in the distance.
An adult Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) rests in the woods on the edge of a rocky ledge at the entrance of Glendale Cove off Knight Inlet on the west coast of Canada.
We were on a wildlife tour, primarily for Grizzly Bear, with Tide Rip Grizzly Tours out of Telegraph Cove on the northeast tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
It is a boat tour which holds about 10 people and you are out for most of the day. If I remember, it is about 90 minutes travel to Glendale Cove but you never know what you may encounter. In this case, it was their first Mountain Lion observation and we had about 5 minutes as it patiently observed us and the surrounding area before disappearing into the woods.
It is something I will never forget, thankfully with some photos to remind me of that once in a lifetime observation.

..... is in the northwestern portion of Glacier National Park in Montana. It is not commonly visited by most visitors to Glacier National Park, because it is located in one of the more remote areas of the park. It is more well-known among local residents, though, who use the small, uncrowded campground. The lake is accessed via a 6 miles (9.7 km) unpaved road from the small town of Polebridge. At 1,706 acres (690 ha), Bowman Lake is the third largest lake in the park, after Lake McDonald and Saint Mary Lake.

The Dolomite Mountains (the Dolomites) are a mountain range in northeastern Italy, part of the Southern Limestone Alps. They are in the regions of Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The Dolomites are mostly made up of exposed rocks – limestones and dolomites and partly – rhyolites. These mountains are characterized by very picturesque terrain caused by their erosion and they are considered one of the most attractive mountain landscapes in the world. A large number of jagged ridges, peaks and rock towers, very steep slopes, cliffs and large vertical rock walls of several hundred meters, deep valleys and karst phenomena create a spectacular landscape. On 26 June 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Dolomity – pasmo górskie w północno-wschodnich Włoszech, część Alp Wschodnich, leżące w regionach Trydent-Górna Adyga i Wenecja Euganejska.
I am going to be, for the next few days, post images of my Saturday evening sojourn of the nearby Mountains. The sunset light coloured the Blackstairs Mountains in beautiful golden light.
