Trail Ridge Road in the Rocky Mountain National Park is a "MUST" drive road especially in the early morning hours.

This was captured as the sun was just breaking the horizon casting its warm light across the mountain range.

An adult Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) rests in the woods on the edge of a rocky ledge at the entrance of Glendale Cove off Knight Inlet on the west coast of Canada.

We were on a wildlife tour, primarily for Grizzly Bear, with Tide Rip Grizzly Tours out of Telegraph Cove on the northeast tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

It is a boat tour which holds about 10 people and you are out for most of the day. If I remember, it is about 90 minutes travel to Glendale Cove but you never know what you may encounter. In this case, it was their first Mountain Lion observation and we had about 5 minutes as it patiently observed us and the surrounding area before disappearing into the woods.

It is something I will never forget, thankfully with some photos to remind me of that once in a lifetime observation.

Fields and meadows among the Glencoe mountain ranges bursting with green lush life and textures. The sky was grey and miserable but it was just a wonderful place to walk, explore and appreciate this beauty of purest nature...

Kirkjufell, or 'Church Mountain', is a distinctly shaped peak found on the north shore of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, only a short distance away from the town of Grundarfjörður. It is often called ‘the most photographed mountain in Iceland’ due to its dramatic formation and perfect coastal location.

Mountain Hare scratching an itch

Here's a wider view of the last shot I posted. This is what my winter drive looks like, and sometimes it's just too good to pass up a shot or two :-)

another reflection in a very small lake in the Lake O'Hara area of Yoho National Park. This is truly a Canadian gem but not really easy to visit as there are daily quotas on the number of people allowed in to the area. The original cabins were built bu the railway in the 1930's but we roughed it in one of the Alpine Huts.

Recent images have highlighted the precarious situation endured by Mountain Hares in the Highlands.

Having adapted for winter conditions, snow cover remained scarce as unseasonal wet weather persisted.

No doubt this Mountain Hare enjoyed the comfort of a sudden cold snap !

One from Saturday in the mountains taken with the 70-200mm. Summits on display starting with the closest in the shadows: Sron na Creise, Stob na Doire with a little light hitting the top, Stob na Broige basking in full light and Bidean nam Bian looming in the murk, centre frame, away in the distance. I think I've got that right!
