Larkin with Toads is a large scale, mass participation public art event that is populating Hull with enormous decorated toads for 10 weeks during summer 2010.

Look out for my mosaic toad (commissioned by ARC www.arc-online.co.uk in Hull (Blanket Row) from 17 July 2010 for 10 weeks which forms part of the Larkin25 festival (www.larkin25.co.uk) celebrating the poem 'Toads'.

A 'Larkin with Toads Location Map' detailing the 40 decorated toads around Hull can be picked up at Hull Tourist Information Office on Queen Victoria Square, Tel: 01482 223559.

I made this photo of mosaic of a turtle during Melody's and my daily walk in early July 2024. This clever mosaic if one of many around the outside of the home. This was on the short retaining wall on the length of the corner home. The lighting was muted since the camera was facing the morning sun. Often shots in the shade or on overcast weather are easier since there are not sharp contrasts in lighting. I shot this at relatively close range using my Canon Powershot SX50 that I carry with me whenever out and about.

I loved the contrast between the flat, black/ charcoal pebbles and the white grout. When these pebbles were under a few inches of water, they really caught my eye; I had to start filling my pocket. Aw, nature...She gives us such beautiful things to play with.

This was a flash entry for Bay Art'09, of Golden Bay New Zealand. Children especially were intrigued by the crystal ball at the top. Made of a variety of broken china, hematite, crystal, glass, buttons, and gold. Approx. 14 inches high.

My musician friend, Steve, couldn't resist playing the one guitar I left strings on.
