An exciting autumn exploration of the Gwent Levels in late October / early November with Welsh Wildlife Breaks, discovering all kinds of gems. From Magor Marsh to Goldcliff Lagoons and Newport Werlands to Peterstone Wentlooge, we covered some of the prize areas. We had all weathers, so sadly, the spectacular murmuration at the Newport Wetlands was too dark and blustery to photograph. But we photographed lots of other sights, including a huge fall of fieldfare and redwing.

Druids hold a misteltoe ritual at Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire. Experts are concerned that the decline of traditional cider orchards will lead to the loss of the mystical plant which grows on host trees. Mistletoe is regarded as a higly magical plant by druids. Photo Caroline Edge.
