Shot in May 2001 on black and white film with a Canon EOS 650. This motel has since been refurbished, and I believe the sign has been sacrificed.

Canterbury Cathedral, early 1200s
One of twelve six-metre tall windows that surround the area at the east end of Canterbury Cathedral where Becket's shrine was once placed. Known as the 'miracle windows', they tell the story of his life, death and the miracles he performed. This window, the fifth in the series, shows the myriad ways that Saint Thomas intervened in the lives of ordinary people.
truly the language of love...of much kindness and affection...are the miracles that we enkindle...in our Heart...
This damaged Madonna and Child was standing outside a church. Someone came up to me while I was photographing it and told me that it had gone from the 3-stories high steeple to a standing position on the ground after the church exploded in February 1971.
The other photo was taken under the Scotch pines by the churchyard entrance prior to visiting the church.
Ok, so it's not officially in the Miracle Mile, but the Metroplaza tower on the right is just half a block away. Sadly, the location is doing this original Art Deco tower and facade no favors as the whole block is set to be demolished for expansive mid-rise apartments. In a neighborhood quickly filling up with Fake Art Deco (Fart Deco), any loss of an original piece of this historic neighborhood dulls its prestige.
After several straight weekends of rainouts thanks to a very wet Arkansas spring, the Blue Heroes, Red Warriors, Purple Legends, and Green Champions were able to take advantage of a beautiful Saturday morning on May 18 at Monticello’s sports complex, where the four teams took the field at the Miracle League Park. Dubbed “Celebration Saturday,” the final day of the spring season included the presentation of trophies, team pictures, and a cookout.

Truly a miracle. This tree has survived the onslaught of war as well as 13 million souls surrounding it. Wide base, likely into the 200 year range. Similar to the grand trees one experiences at Mount Vernon. The tree is about 10 floors tall, compared to surrounding buildings.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:8

Grace actually looked at the camera and basically smiled! That is nothing short of a miracle. Unfortunately I never re-combed her hair after her nap today. Who knew today would be the day she'd kind of smile at the camera???

Remembering to get a drink of water (thank you momostery and Anne Lamott), to spend time exercising and breathing, enjoying the rainbow and sunset at the 4H fair and so proud of my girl for pursuing her dreams and entering the photo contest. Also (because I'm hanging on to gratitude with both fists clenched tight) the miracle of apples on those trees I planted by flashlight so many years ago. Swearing under the light of the moon and hearing a timberdoodle... back when I thought certain things defined and validated me and now I know that its ok for my definitions to keep changing but still looking to know that what I do (or don't do) is important in some way.
Had a Great Day with Spike (RadioSpike), Kelly (PictureObsessed), and Nick (fiedlern) at the Miracle League's baseball game in Southfield. This is Michigan's first baseball field for children with any physical or mental disability. The Miracle League of Michigan is making dreams come true for some very special kids.
We will all be posting the day's photos to a separate flickr account soon.
