10"x8" Stained glass, tiny tile. This is Miko, a perky Pomeranian. This is only my second mosaic of a pup with long hair. Was a challenge to figure out how to get poofy looking hair.
Young women, Mikos, wearing red hakama and white haori, sheltered from the rain under white umbrellas, walking in line bristly as their shrine maiden service is over and they usher themselves out of the shrine.
April 1st was the Tayuu Douchu, in which two Tayuu (Kiseragi Tayuu and Furisode Tayuu) held a small parade down Takasegawa and then held a small ceremony.
During the ceremony, Miko-sama, or shinto shrine maidens, performed a dance.

Miko was the loved companion of our family friend Dolly. I spent a lot of time with Miko (and Dolly!) in 2002. Miko did not like the idea that my Mom was moving away and jumped into the suitcase to make sure that SHE went too.
Miko was ill with congestive heart failure for only 3 weeks. She crawled under Dolly's kitchen table Thursday night and died. 2008 has been a very bad year for losing dogs near and dear to us - see the next 2 photos in my "Dogs" set. :(
I will miss her sweet little soul.
