BR 20082 & 20010 were being held briefly on the Down Goods line at Sandiacre before heading along the Erewash Valley line with a set of empty MGR hoppers for reloading. The 'Choppers' sounded great as they accelerated away a few minutes later!

It was April 1991 and the progressive delivery of new Brush Type 5 Class 60 machines would see a good number of these English Electric Type 1 locomotives displaced and withdrawn.

After passing Wallyford in the opposite direction with an empty MGR to Millerhill, just an hour and 15 minutes prior to this shot, 56033 is seen heading towards Wallyford station with a loaded MGR. I am assuming that 56033 picked up this loaded set of HAA's at Millerhill as there is not enough time from when I saw this pass here empty to return with the same train loaded. 56033 is heading to Cockenzie Power Station at 1029 on the 30th September 1999

Class 58 no. 58032 about to leave Coalville on an mgr working on 5 June 1988. Or is it...? My photo was taken on the day of Coalville Open Day, and, 36 years later, I can't remember if this was a normal, regular mgr working, or past of a demonstration for the Open Day.....

58032, which would be named "Thoresby Colliery" in October 1995, was built at Doncaster and was new in September 1985. It was withdrawn from service in December 2006 and was exported to France for further work in July 2009. It was scrapped in France during May 2023.
