Unbranded Mainline Blue 58013 is about to pass under Bennerley viaduct on 19th August 1996 with 6T02, 17.00 Toton to Bentinck colliery with a 42 set of MGR's.
An April 1990 view taken over the iron railings at Trelewis, where BR 37889 was waiting for access to the loading pad at Deep Navigation Colliery. Once loaded, the MGR [6C84] would work to Aberthaw Power Station. Following refurbishment in late 1987, this Class 37/7 was briefly based at Stratford as a Petroleum Sector locomotive prior to joining the Canton Trainload Coal, Power Station pool.

Recorded at Barry Junction in May 1990, Canton Heavyweight 37799 'Sir Dyfed/County of Dyfed' was heading to Aberthaw Power Station with MGR 7C86, the 11:45 from Deep Navigation Colliery.

56074 Kellingley Colliery near Paddock with an MGR from Healey Mills to Fiddlers Ferry. 23 October 1982.
On 05/02/93 58047 departs from Toton with MGR empties to Denby, which were always identifiable around this period by the brakevans provided for the trainman to ride in to close the crossing gates after the train had cleared them, along the branch to Denby. This was later ditched in favour of a man in a van..

58043 at Banbury with mgr empties from Didcot, 8/7/88. I then cowered in the van while one of the most dramatic storms I have experienced in this country exploded around me.

With a train of loaded HAA hoppers of coal in tow, [tripped from Mill Pit Colliery earlier in the day], BR Class 56 56080 commences the journey eastbound with 6Z32, the 18:25 Briton Ferry to Didcot Power Station.

A once typical early evening scene at Saltley, Birmingham where Railfreight Class 58 58013 was passing with a train of discharged HAA coal hoppers being returned from Didcot Power Station. In the distance, a Class 31 can be seen banking a loaded MGR that was about to commence the climb to Bordesley Junction, while en route to Didcot.

The last thing you need when you have a line of washing is a pair of class 31's idling next to it. The train would wait whilst the crossing gates at Coxbench Station were opened then trundle through until the brake van was clear, the guard would then close them and the train would proceed to the next set of gates. Coxbench station closed 01/06/1930 therefore it had been a private house for some time, I suspect today a garden on one side of a live railway and the house on the other would not be looked upon with great joy by H&S.
31261 and 31116 are taking an empty MGR set to Denby.
31261 was built as D5689 it entered service new to Sheffield Darnall. The loco was withdrawn 05/01/1987 and cut at Stratford depot in November 1990
31116 was built as D5534, it entered service new to March depot 11/06/1959, although older than 31216 it was not withdrawn until 04/02/2000, it was cut by T.J. Thomson (Stockton) in July 2003
