Edward Mountain Conservative (left seated), Standing Isla O'reilly 2nd Highland Scottish Green Party list candidate.

One of the Scottish Green policies that was well received at the Environmental Matters hustings on 21 April in Aviemore spoken about by Isla O'Reilly was on rejecting TTIP. The Scottish Green manifesto states:

"We oppose any corporate power grabs, like the Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership (TTIP), which will lock-in privatisation. If adopted, TTIP will also increase the power of corporations to influence our health, food and environmental protections and to sue governments over new laws."

The position of various parties on TTIP is provided at:

www.waronwant.org/media/ttip-and-2015-election-where-do-p...

Some Scottish papers have carried articles that indicate opposition to TTIP is high in Scotland see:

Don’t assume you've lots of time for all you want to do,

Though the future seems to stretch away into the blue...

Maybe you intend to scale those summits far away....,

But all that matters - is the hills you’ve got to climb today

Time to put this one to bed.

This is the first of a series I'm starting to honor the black lives matter movement. My goal is to show that racism is taught, not inherited. As you can see by this picture, children are not born with prejudice. Children are born seeing everyone as equal, until taught by outside influences to think otherwise.

And if anyone tells you differently... they're lying....

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye: Fly in League with the Night

(2 December 2020 - 31 May 2021)

The first major survey of one of the most important painters working today

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye is a British artist and writer acclaimed for her enigmatic portraits of fictitious people. This exhibition brings together around 80 works from 2003 to the present day in the most extensive survey of the artist’s career to date.

The figures in Yiadom-Boakye’s paintings are not real people – she creates them from found images and her own imagination. Both familiar and mysterious, they invite viewers to project their own interpretations, and raise important questions of identity and representation.

Often painted in spontaneous and instinctive bursts, her figures seem to exist outside of a specific time or place. Her paintings are coupled with poetic titles, such as Tie the Temptress to the Trojan 2016 and To Improvise a Mountain 2018. Writing is central to Yiadom-Boakye’s artistic practice, as she has explained: ‘I write about the things I can’t paint and paint the things I can’t write about.’

Yiadom-Boakye was awarded the prestigious Carnegie Prize in 2018 and was the 2012 recipient of the Pinchuk Foundation Future Generation Prize. She was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2013.
