Last night, I convinced my grandson to take a break from watching the second season of the old "Outer Limits" series, and instead, enjoy watching this Powell and Pressburger classic, newly released by Sony. He seemed to enjoy it; so did I.

On September 14th, the Mets had a 7 game lead over the Phillies and all was right with the world. As of this morning, that lead has shrunk to a game and a half. And the Mets are just plain stinkin' up the joint! No team in the history of baseball has ever had that kind of lead that late in the season and not made the playoffs. This is crunch time. Something needed to be said.

Sometimes, things don't go as planned no matter how hard you try or prepare. This was a 4 tier Quinceañera cake for a beautiful young lady. Two of the tiers had to be redone before delivery because of an accident, which caused their designs to change due to available time to redo labor intensive designs. While stacking the tiers at the venue and finishing the cake, a collapse began right before my eyes, and I had to work fast to prevent the whole cake from going over. I ended up having to separate the cake in half. I didn't realize the floor of the venue was slanted and the weight of the cake tiers along with gravity began a slow shift and of course damaged the cake. There wasn't enough time to recover. I couldn't have felt more terrible and my heart was broken. At least the handmade roses survived because I hadn't put them on yet when the collapse occurred. I hesitated to post these, but things happen and I still loved this cake before things went wrong, and I still love the details, especially the roses. The client couldn't have been nicer or more understanding. The cake tiers were vanilla/vanilla, chocolate/Nutella, strawberry/strawberry, and Almond Roca/caramel.
