A very special visitor during the Coronavirus outbreak! This Ethiopian Cargo 777F brought 90 tons of medical supplies ordered by the local government.
"Mandela" is seen here kissing the tarmac of runway 13, arriving from Guangzhou via Addis Ababa and Lomé as "Ethiopian 3990".
Sadly, the sunlight was poor due to the cloudy conditions.
Ethiopian Cargo is really busy with several flights hauling medical supplies worldwide. Good to see this bird paying a visit to our city aswell!

The Nelson Mandela Bridge in Zoetermeer, a bicycle and pedestrian bridge, was built in 1992. It is 180 meters long and connects Het Plein van de Verenigde Naties (Square of the United Nations} in the Rokkeveen district, south of the highway A12, with the Boerhaavelaan. It 's not only crossing the highway, but also two railroad-lines.
The bridge was designed by the architect J. Bak. He created a totally enclosed bridge in blue-yellow, the colors of the coat of arms of Zoetermeer. The artwork on the bridge, an undulating stainless steel band that separates pedestrian and bicycle path, is a work of the artist Arnold Hamelberg.

At some point yesterday my photostream passed the 3 million views mark. Thanks everyone for taking the time to view, fave and comment on my photos over the last few years.
Well, perhaps not. A moment captured on London’s South Bank. The sculpture, by Ian Walters, was commissioned by the Greater London Council and unveiled in 1985 by Oliver Tambo, president of the African National Congress.
Meu sonho não faz silêncio
Porque feito de lida
Teimoso como esta cor
Para sempre será desperto e certo
Mais que vivo, é a própria vida.

This impressive statue of Nelson Mandela stands in front of the legislative building called the Union Building in the capital city of Pretoria, South Africa. It is 43 feet tall.
Just heard the sad news about the passing of Mr. Nelson Mandela, in my mind the last great man of the world. He is our true hero who fought for freedom for all. We will miss him.

Repost of an old #T-shirt I got when I was about 14 years old. It still fits - was an adult size obviously. Caption said „Freiheit für Nelson Mandela“, since he was still in jail then.

The original image used to create this kaleidoscope was a fractal that was "mirrored" a number of times and given a few other adjustments to create the repeating patterns.
My wife is a painter, and this is a rock that she finished painting yesterday.
Lighting stuff: To document this "rock art" I placed it on a piece of black Perspex, and lit it with a YN560-III in identical 24 inch soft boxes on either side of the rock at 3 and 9 o'clock. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo
RF-603N.
Other paintings she has done, that I documented, can be seen in the Maria's Paintings folder.

R.I.P. Nelson Mandela (July 18, 1918 - December 5, 2013).
The head statue of Nelson Mandela. Southbank London. The sculpture was done by Ian Walters and is beside the Royal Festival Hall.
Situated on London's South Bank at the side of the Royal Festival Hall this is the second edition of this bust..
This original bust was made when Mandela was still in prison and was unveiled in 1985 by Oliver Tambo. I guess the sculptor Ian Walters worked from old photographs.
The original was destroyed by deliberate fire after about a year. The present version was re-erected in 1988 and placed higher on a plinth for safety which unfortunately makes it more remote - but it is a very powerful statement nevertheless.
