My Tripadvisor magnet arrived. I've written a number of reviews over the last few years and they have thanked me with a magnet. It takes pride of place on our fridge along with other magnets we have collected from our travels.
Pieces to a magnet toy are assembled, scanned, and printed in life-size. The student recreates the magnet arrangement on top of the template.
The problem with stainless steel fridges is that magnets don't stick to the stainless part. Thus, all of my magnets (well, a culled selection of my magnets) are crammed onto the side of my fridge, which is a tasteful black. Particularly important magnets are noted in, well, the notes.
My brother bought Jon these magnets for Christmas. There are 216 of them, made from a rare earth metal (neodymium I think from googling) and they're about 5mm across. You can make them into all sorts of shapes - it made me think of the crystallography I did in University, not to mention VSEPR, DNA structure and various other structural studies. Lots and lots of fun.

The Supermag bar is a single neodymium magnet 5mm diameter and 1" long, whereas the Geomag unit is two 6mm diameter magnets separated by a 5mm diameter steel rod.

This new restaurant in Avondale encourages people to contribute magnets to the giant wall of magnets on the patio. I should bring some Iowa ones. See other photos for how the dining experience went, their first hour officially open for business
