I've been asked if this is Mao or an alien. But it's Nelson Mandela. HIV patients in South Africa sometimes sell stuff like this for money. Friend picked it up for me out there.

This is my latest batch of vintage button magnets. I made these from vintage buttons right out of grandma's button jar.

A few of the Pull Pack (PP) Magnets that came in envelopes (which I also have but haven't matched up yet).

The previous photo shows these better (and more of them) while showing the evolution of my picture taking abilities over the course of this project... :D

I swear, they look so close together when I place them...

I really need help identifying the cards, especially the Sailormoon ones. After having packed them away for so many years I just can't remember so if anyone knows which set and series they are from please leave a comment and/or note. Thanks!

More Cards here.

All these (and more) need new homes as I'm going to a different country for an extended stay soon so send me a Flickr Mail message (access through the arrow that appears near my profile photo when mousing over it) if interested.

Built in 1938, Bailey Magnet's art-deco building has been marveled as an architectural wonder. Its Architect, A. Hays Town, while employed at J.W. Overstreet designed the building. It made the cover of a 1938 Life magazine for the school's forward look and his revolutionary technique of formed-in-place concrete.

An experiment in post-processing... leaning heavily into a

photo-illustration style. I know... not everyone's cup of tea. =)

An alternate treatment of a photo I've used in a triptych earlier

(365_264 / Gettin' Dirty).

SOOC was uninspired, a complete miss of an expressive

moment. And in this case, it's NOT the photo itself that is the

hero... there are any number of issues with it. But the moment

of ice cream bliss is priceless! So... how to 'get there'?

Working this photo to this degree is one way... but by no

means the ONLY way.

My goal is to showcase the moment... rather than simply an

all-out attempt to hide the flaws in a truly photo-realistic way.

Next time I think I'll dial down the noise a bit more... even

though within the context of this style, I like it well enough.

Never... stop... learning. =)
