we're at the beginning of storm season here in the deep south, hurricane season, the mean season. this is what we see every afternoon during the summer months, huge cloud formations that reach up into the upper parts of the atmosphere, then mushroom when they hit the colder, lower pressures above. they act like big convective engines, pumping cold air, torrential rain, hail and violent lightning as they track from the moist savannahs to the west of us, out toward the ocean.
this is a shot across the parking lot at my work place, a very industrial area, as you can see. the cell tower struck me as a lure for the lightning that was sure to come in the next hour or so. i did not have the big machine with me, so the little machine, my iphone, was the only choice.

Green Herons are common and widespread, but they can be hard to see at first. Whereas larger herons tend to stand prominently in open parts of wetlands, Green Herons tend to be at the edges, in shallow water, or concealed in vegetation. From a distance, the Green Heron is a dark, stocky bird hunched on slender yellow legs at the water’s edge, often hidden behind a tangle of leaves. Seen up close, it is a striking bird with a velvet-green back, rich chestnut body, and a dark cap often raised into a short crest. These small herons crouch patiently to surprise fish with a snatch of their daggerlike bill. They sometimes lure in fish using small items such as twigs or insects as bait.

For Macro Mondays theme "hobby". This hobby is fishing. The image is about 1.25 inches wide, and is a lure I use for salt water fishing. If you look carefully, you can see remnants of seaweed that got caught there on my last trip. Also for 119 pictures in 2019, #52, "hooks".

This was a hamburger joint in Gary, Indiana. Sorry I didn't get a better shot, this was out the car window as we passed. My friends were not very open to stopping in Gary.
This is now a Subway Restaurant which has been remodeled to the point that it is hardly recognizable except for some of the details. There is no trace of the Mid-Century look it had here:
